Re: What is the one gift you would like to receive for Christmas? ==OT

I know this isn't what you meant but Friday I had a call from my dr office that I am in remission from multiple myeloma which is an incurable cancer of the bone marrow. I've woken up every day since and the first thing I think is ""I'm in remission"" so my Christmas wish is to still be in remission.

For something material...a cute pair of shoes that fit my feet properly.

Praise God and Merry Christmas! It takes a catastrophe to put things into prospective, the one silver lining of such an occurrence. Congratulations! I'm so happy for you and your loved ones. Smiley Happy

Cardamom, it was a precious moment when I got the call. I was standing in line to check in with the ortho dr's office and the nurse called and I repeated..."what I'm in remission???? I really am? People started cheering for me. I shed some tears, let me tell you.

Re: What is the one gift you would like to receive for Christmas? ==OT

Every year, instead of buying gifts for each other, I want members of my family to all donate to a charity the same amount that they would spend on gifts. Hubby and I don't really need anything, and if there's something we want, we can buy it for ourselves. But our family doesn't want to do this; they all prefer to buy individual gifts -- sheesh! To me, the holidays are a time to get together, enjoy good food, conversation, and each other. Give to charities and people who otherwise won't receive gifts.

To answer your question, I don't want much of anything. And I hate gift cards -- it's like saying, "I'm too thoughtless to buy you a gift. Here, you do it yourself."

Being able to see my son, who is currently stationed in Japan & his family. I haven't seen them in more than 18 months. I haven't seen my granddaughter in more than a year.

This year, for the first time in over 10 years, both of my children will be home for Christmas. They are spending Christmas Eve with us through the 26th. Even though my DD lives across town from me now, she wants to spend the night, too. We will be buying a live blue spruce tree and plant it together as a reminder of our first Christmas in Ohio before my son leaves. I do not need any other gifts. (Except safe travel, of course).

That sounds like the best Christmas present ever to me. Wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season.
