A few years ago I had to go for an ultrasound (post cancer treatment) and the tech came out to call me.  I went in, she got me prepped and she said she'd be right back.   I said okay that's fine.  Upon her return she stated she wanted to make sure she had the right chart as she honestly thought she had the wrong patient due to the birth date.  I was 57 at the time.

I get compliments on my skin: Some ask what foundation I'm wearing and are surprised I'm bare faced.

I do have to say, Debbie Downer here, many compliments are given as "greetings", just thinking of nice things to say. I take them with a grain of salt. Most people know women want to hear how much younger they look, etc.

Whenever I talk about my grandchildren, people look astonished and comment that there is no way I'm old enough to have grandchildren.  I get complimented on my eyes and skin nearly every time I go out.  And to compliment my mother's youthful look, people used to think we were sisters!

I have been fortunate to always have very good facial skin.  It's the genes; however, if you abuse your skin by laying in the sun and going to tan booths you will be very sorry you did.

We just had a Zoom Thanksgiving. My family and my best friend participated. My friend spent her whole life outdoors and as a result her skin suffered. She also stopped coloring her hair. Everyone in my family kept telling me they couldn't believe we're the same age. I still color my hair and I stây out of the sun, so my skin still looks good. I appreciated the compliments and will remain mum to my friend.

It's a recurring thing  ...

I apparently always looked younger than my actual age.  Since I was in my early 60s, people assumed I was about 10 years younger.  

My age has come up frequently since I decided to stop coloring my hair  last year.  When I explained that I decided for my 77th birthday to go natural - one friend gasped.  She had no idea I was this old!  (I'm 78 now!)

Women in my family age really well.  We've been the recipients of good genes.   

Actually - my hands are the only thing that shows my age.  But - a good manicure, attractive rings and sleeves that just slightly drape over the back of my hands - no one notices the age spots!

 I am complemented on my hair and skin often.  By total strangers. People just walk up to me and tell me I love this or that... it is a nice feeling to received a complement. Problem is that when I look in the mirror all I see are my faults.

I take compliments with a grain of salt, so I usually just say thank-you, then let it go.  One day last year when I was working in the office, I was in the elevator & a colleague said, "you're hair is so perfect it looks like a wig."  I giggled a bit & said thank you, but please don't pull it because it's no wig!

Your post reminded me of one of my daughter's hs friends.  She hadn't seen me in 20 years and saw a picture of me on my daughter's Instgram page.  She said "your mom looks EXACTLY like she did 20 years ago!".  Oh if she could see me without makeup!

Hubby compliments me daily.  Those are the only ones that really matter. Since losing 122 lbs, I’m receiving more compliments from friends and family about my body transformation than anything “beauty” related. I often get mistaken for younger than my true age. I attribute that to skincare rather than makeup application.
