What is it with sulfate free shampoo?.....and my hair

I have tried everything from drug store to high end salon sulfate free shampoo, and they all seem to make my hair dry and less shiny.

Does anyone else have this problem?{#emotions_dlg.confused1} My hair actually looks better and has better volume with regular shampoo for color treated hair.

Would really like your opinions. Also, if anyone has a favorite shampoo (not WEN), that gives you great results. Always on the hunt for that perfect shampoo, which I have yet to find.
