Nothing works well on everyone!
@Tinkrbl44 Regarding Wen, 127 reports had been actually filed with the FDA. However, more than 21,000 complaints about hair loss were lodged against Wen Hair Care. Now add the thousands or potential hundreds of thousands of other people who lost their hair as a direct result from Wen, but these people never filed a formal complaint with either Wen or the FDA.
I didn't file. My hair fell out almost immediately after using Wen. What was left of my hair indeed felt luxurious, just as the sales pitch promises, but at the same time it gave me a big bald spot on the top of my head, and balding on the sides. Used it for about 6 weeks before realizing it was definitely Wen. I stopped using it. Called Wen offices, but no call back response to my voicemail messages. Emailed Wen, but no written response. This was all in 2013. Took about 9 to 10 months for my hair to grow back. My case would not be counted in these posted numbers. There are many more people who I'm sure were just too embarrased to write or file, or just stopped using it (me).
So we will never know the full extent of Wen's damage on some people, but it's far more than even the paltry number of 21,000 for sure.
Seems very speculative on your part.

@Drythe If I remove the word "far" from my last sentence, but standing by every other word I stated, is that better? Then I delete the word "far." But I can still count me, and several people that have self reported in several places on these boards, and on other social media posts (and I'm not even counting people that I couldn't possibly read about) to add to that 21,000. I am one of those added people that would never think of suing because of a hair cleansing product, or file a report. Just stopped using it.

I agree it's a dilemma. I've never been a person who fulminates against government regulations nor do I advocate overwhelming government intervention. I think balance is key... if we have no oversight, no inspections, investigations, controls, etc., we're going to be in a world of hurt. The question is... how much is good, how much is harmful.
Agree! And it IS a difficult balance and one I'm afraid they will never be able to accomplish to the majority of people's satisfaction. Plus the fact that we give less and less money to them so they don't have enough staff to adequately regulate everything that is currently under regulation, nevermind adding even more to the list!
We have become a very litigious society.

If it's still sealed, you can sell it on Ebay.

@Nurse77 Use it for shaving cream, will take the hair right off.

This is why its important to fully read and comprehend a statement.
You use the 21,000 complaints to create the assumption that 21,000 people actually filed official complaints. This would be an incorrect assumption. Each complaint could be one of the multiple phone calls, voicemails and emails you sent complaining.
Lets say you did this 6-8 times (conservatively), well thats now 6-8 additional complaints. If it was an actual documented and submitted full complaint per consumer it would say "formal" complaint. So instead of the huge number you come up with, I would suspect the actual number is closer to the 127. Allowing for the plausable assumption that each person called and emailed multiple times.
Also the complaints were not all for hair loss, it simply states reactions. This could be as simple as a breakout due to an allergy. Lets break that down even further... 21,000 complaints since 2011. Thats an average of 3500 a year. Do you know how many people have food allergies in the US alone? Quite frankly this number is lower than the amount of people that report issues from nut allergies yearly.... even when broken down in a percentage based on Wen sales.
"Every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency department – that is more than 200,000 emergency department visits per year." -https://www.foodallergy.org/facts-and-stats
Do the math and stop spreading misinformation.

@nikki48 You must have me mistaken for someone who is trying to do battle with anyone over their own feelings or allegiances towards a hair care product. If you love Wen's products, enjoy them, I'm happy they work for you.
Now let's get back to your own misinformation. You seriously think the 127 is the total number? Really? Please take your own advice; you have no evidence whatsoever if or how many of the 21,000 complaints are multiple issues of the same complaint, versus what would be unique complaints. So, you know better than I do that my complaints were actually recorded by Wen? Do you work for Wen and have their database access? No? I am content in what I've said, and I respect that you feel differently. But I will not stay silent when people try to totally discredit my comments or others for stating our own experiences and leaving the door open for further considerations.

@Caaareful Shopper That wasnt attempting to "egg" someone into a battle. It was simply a correction about they way the information was presented. Yes, I do believe the number is closer to 127 than 21,000. Now I didnt say it was 127, I said I suspect it is closer to it than 21,000.
As far as complaints, yes.. usually each individual interaction is seperate because it is logged seperately. UNLESS, someone actually ties together each complaint with a consumer and then keeps an individual file of multiple complaints for each consumer. No, I do not work for Wen but I have worked for and with government agencies and that is usually how its done.
As far as not staying silent, by all means voice your opinion but dont present it as fact. That was my point, you used absolutes to present speculative theory. So excuse the fact checker in me but this was not hostile nor was it arguementative, it was simply fact checking.
Enjoy your day!

My hair started falling out as well and I called customer service and even though it is over 30 days I can send back all of it. I dispose this product. So much hair in the shower drain since stopping no more. I was not one of the 21,000 but wish I complained.
