Not  that I am considering giving up WEN after 13 yrs of using it almost daily with good results.

But I was just wondering how does one go about giving it up if they have been sucessfully using it for years but feel that there may be some truth in the hair loss stories ?

Just go to the drugstore, buy some other shampoo and conditioner ... and start using it.

Save the WEN and use it as a "shaving cream" when you shave your legs.  That's what I do with all my leftover conditioners.

I would guess by not using it anymore.

If I honestly thought something was making my hair fall out, I'd toss it in the trash and not look back.

I guess I am not coming across correctly. But if one really is afraid (not myself) of hair loss and believe WEN  causes hair loss ,but you are loving it  and having great results ,but  are worried that your hair just may fall out ,it must be hard to change to another brand because there is nothing that comes near to WEN ,imo.

I hope i explained my thought correctly.....lol......I know stupid post.....lol  just a thought ..

I have been using WEN for 7 years and at 71 my hair and scalp are in the best shape they have ever been.  My stylist of 25 years says the same thing.  Younger stylist in the same salon can not believe my age and great hair.  I have medical issues that caused my hair to be brittle and fall out much faster than normal.  I still brush my hair every night and the amount of hair in my brush is greatly reduced.  I will keep using it until there is proof that it is harmful to all.  I have lived through so many false alarms from the FDA and they have played havoc with my allergies, etc.   They need to do a true check of the ingredients before they pull WEN.  What some people are allergic to does not mean we all are.   I looked at the names of the companies on both sides of the argument.  Maybe some of those larger companies/product lines are feeling a pinch from their smaller less known competition.

13 years? WOW! Good for you! I'm coming up on year 4 - I think. I just talked to my hairstylist yesterday about this. Just to be on the safe side I asked him if he'd noticed any thinning in my hair. He hadn't. Then I told him why I asked. He was familiar with the situation and said there is NOTHING in the ingredients that could cause hair loss. He believes, as I do, that it is one of two things:

1. Some people are just extremely sensitive or allergic to some ingredients.

2. There is something else causing the loss, and it's easy to blame WEN because of all of the publicity right now.

He also said that the people who have experienced hair loss are only a tiny percentage of those who use it.

So I will not be giving it up until there is a very good reason to do so!

Because if one truly believes that WEN is causing hair loss, there's no point in continuing use because it wouldn't matter how good WEN makes your hair look when all your hair is on the floor.

WEN makes my hair feel so soft I love to touch it. If WEN were making my hair fall out (it is NOT), then I wouldn't care how soft my hair felt, I would do whatever it took to keep the hair on my head.

If you only have 25% of your hair left and the rest has fallen out, you won't really care how soft that remaining 25% feels.

I can understand giving up something if you're having a bad reaction to it.

I can understand not starting to use something for which there have been proven allergic responses.

I don't understand at all why I should even consider giving up WEN.  I've used it for years now with good results.

The whole world odesn't have to give up something just because someone else is allergic to it.  If that were true, all of you who have used penicillin sometime in the last 60 years wouldn't have had it.

I find it hard to believe that intellifent people don't use more logic in assessing theis whole mess; then again, I did just read a quote from Rovert Heinlein (and I may have a word or two wrong) who said, "It's easier to convince 1000 people by appealing to their prejudices than it is to appeal to their logic."

@MalteseMommaThere is SOME truth in the WEN issue -  SOME users undoubtedly did react badly.

Still, if personal experience tells you you're not one of the sufferers and you still think you want to quit -  I have no idea what I'd tell you.  Pshaw - probably..

Jmo but I think it's sad the media coverage has caused so much worry.

Such a small % of customers report hair loss that imo the FDA will find are allergies or misuse of product or other issues unrelated to WEN. My answer (might not be helpful I know) is try not to worry and try to enjoy the good results you and so many others have experienced.
