Wen help please, 1st time user

So I got my pumpkin wen today but want to make sure I use it right. I have shoulder length hair. Does 8 pumps to each section of hair sound right? Do I really need to repeat 2 times? On the bottle it says repeat if necessary and in the intructions with the little book it says if you choose to cleanse a 2 nd time use half the amount..........I thouht I heard Chaz say to ALWAYS repeat twice? This sounds like alot of work and time, lol!! Any tips would be great.
