@Icegoddess

The mascot for the Chiefs name is Dan Meers  This is him

Dan Meers

According to this article, the man who robbed a bank is a superfan, not the mascot...

Kansas City superfan, who dressed as a wolf at games and is dubbed 'Chiefsaholic', 'is on the run with a $1million bond warrant issued after removing his ankle monitor in bank robbery case'

@monicakm thanks for clearing that up.  It wasn't clear from the segment that he was not an official mascot.

This "Chiefsaholic" gives a bad name to the team. KC doesn't need fans like him.

Did Mahomes give a good speech? I'm not familiar with his skills as a speaker.

It was a great event.  The stage was set with two winged back leather chairs and a table between them.  Patrick was asked questions by the "voice of the Chiefs" Mitch Holthus.  I didn't realize it would be this type of format.  The disappointing part was it was only 45 minutes long and about 20 of those minutes were the university's president and others.  Patrick is a well-spoken man with clear goals and with a message to young people to not just "follow your dreams" but to WORK for them.  It doesn't pay off to just follow them.  He talked about growing up in Tyler (where the event was held), hanging out at Whataburger when he was in hs lol, family, God, football and Kelce (friend and teammate).  I saw my knee surgeon and his lovely wife.  Then we finished the evening at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

There was a LOT of standing inside and out and a LOT of walking.  If I had known the kind of pain the evening was going to cause me, I would have had to offer my ticket to someone else Smiley Sad  My husband always drops me off at the entrance to anywhere we go but there was still a huge line to walk to the end of and the waiting and walking inside.  I must have looked pretty pathetic while waiting in the front lobby.  A kind 11-12 yo boy got up and offered me his seat.  I'm sure his dad told him to.  And YES, I gladly took it and told him what a kind young man he was.  It's scary to realize how weak I've gotten with this knee pain.  May 3rd can't get here soon enough!

@monicakm - I'm sorry that your evening caused you so much discomfort but I'm glad you went.  It's too bad it was so short but that may have been a blessing in disguise since you were in so much pain.  Glad you only have to wait a month before your surgery and not any longer.

@teganslaw

I thought he did.  It was exactly what I thought it would be, mostly motivational.  He did talk about growing up here in east Texas and says he still keeps in touch with his high school buddies and sees them when he comes home.   Britney and he are both from Tyler/Whitehouse so I'm sure they're here often to see family and friends.  The only thing I wasn't expecting was the format of the other person up there that asked the questions.  It was good tho because this guy is part of the Chiefs...oh I can't think of the word I'm looking for but he works for Chiefs.
