For the life of me I will never understand why QVC doesn't swatch the foundation colors during a presentation. They swatched the shadows, the blush, the lip gloss. On the next product they are swatching the eye primer. Why do they never swatch the foundations?? I am always in a quandary as to whether to order the fair or light and now they have thrown light-medium into the mix. How is one supposed to guess the right shade? Then they wonder why there are so many returns. No swatches for some cosmetics, no size chart for clothes... who makes these decisions?

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

Suzy, if you got an email from Tarte about the TSV, there's a YouTube link attached. All the colors - foundations and shadows are swatched.

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

I agree with OP. I stopped all Q e-mails because they got cumbersome. Some people are watching on their phones or tablet.

I would think the foundation colors shown on skin would be the first place they would start, before eye shadows and blush.

Looking at Jacquie, it looks like it is a yellow based, and she as in the medium light. That is the only reference on skin we had at the outset of the show. Then maybe one model said what color she was in.

That is the vendors JOB to make sure colors are shown and demonstrated.

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

For some reason I don't get all of the QVC emails. It's odd because I do get some of them but not all of the TSV ones and I never got the one regarding S&H changes either.

You know, Jacquie looked good wearing the light-medium when she was in close-ups but when the camera pulled away her neck and chest looked lighter and her face a little too dark or yellow? I was all set on the med-light but that put me off. I can't do yellow based foundations. I had to return the last It Cosmetics kit because the fair was pink but too light and the Light was too yellow. Oyy, is it just me or don't these companies that market a limited selection of shades on shopping networks ever consider doing neutral shades? Why are they all so yellow?

Mollysmama-thanks for the info. I'll check out the Tarte website. Duh, don't know why I didn't think of that!!

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

SuzyQue, I totally agree with you about showing foundation colors in presentations. I really can't stand the way QVC shows foundation colors. Once the product is applied on a model's face the color can begin to transform. Also, there's the studio lighting issue and we can't tell if there's been a little (off camera) trickery to make a color appear absolutely perfect. I A thick swatch of color on a hand, or on a white board (as Leslie originally showed BE colors) is a better way to show foundation colors to the audience.

I haven't bought a foundation from QVC since they went to the show colors already applied to the models routine. That's been a few years now. In most instances, even if the foundation starts out exclusively at QVC, the brand will eventually release it on their website and to their other retail partners.

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

I like what Mally has been doing lately- swatching the color on a model's arm BEFORE the presentation begins so she can quickly show them during the presenation. It really is that simple and wish others would do that as well, especially for foundation. Those silly "color charts" with pictures of models does nothing as I don't look like any of them and their description doesn't really match either.

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

It is annoying when they always say, that 80% of you will be a medium, so if you are on the fence, order that color. So what if you are not a medium or still unsure?! With makeup, one size does not fit all. I also, like to know if the color is a warm or cool tone. Does it have yellow or pink in it?

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

Even if they do "swatch" the shades, the colors as they appear on your TV or computer may or may not be true. Makeup is something I buy in a store in person. I have no clue how anyone purchases makeup without actually seeing the shades first-hand.

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a model presentation for each color!! I'm also on the fence they threw in lt/med which might be telling me the med may be dark!!

Re: WHY WHY WHY QVC.... WHY?

I don't purchase foundation, makeup or skin care products from online retailers. I go the department store and have the sales associate help me select the proper shade of foundation, blush and eye shadows. I found out a long time ago it's cheaper in the long run.
