WHO do you all give holiday beauty gifts to? Do you think beauty is a personal thing....

I'm contemplating some of the philosophy 3-1 washes for teachers, co-workers, sitters, etc...but I am wondering...do you think beauty items...especially scented ones are more of a personal taste thing? I hate the thought of giving this as a gift only to have someone NOT use it?? Are gift cards a better bet? They just seem too impersonal to me??
