Re: WEN Round Styling Brush!

I think the key here would be to use couple of hair clips. For the hair that you are not working with at the moment. The pro stylists use them all the time, even they have both hands available and client's hair right in front of them and below their shoulders.

Clip it up. Start with the very bottom on the back, and do strand by strand up to the crown. Re-position the clip(s) and do the sides from the bottom up again. Then do the top front, sides around the face, bangs, etc.

I am too, a miserable stylist, but with Chaz brush experiencing some successes, and most of all - ease.

I find it difficult to hold the brush and the blow dryer in my hands at all times, so I place the blow dryer down on a counter, while I am picking the strand with a brush and curling it up in place. Then, I pick up a blow dryer and blow there. If I am lucky, I may be able to move and rotate the brush (somewhat) like Chaz's doing it on the video. Very remote resemblance though! I may improve with time, who knows?

Also, like he says, it is very important to have a NOZZLE on your blow dryer. He speaks about this from perspective of not frying your hair with heat from blow dryer opening, but I also find it does help with the stream of air going just in the right direction on your strand vs. blowing the rest of your hair all over the place.

Try it. You'll like it. If I can do it, believe me, anyone can do it.

Re: WEN Round Styling Brush!

My hair is fine and I tried the Wen large brush a few months ago...had to send it back. Smiley Sad

Love the idea but the handle was just to hard for me to hang onto. If I would wrap something around the handle to give me a better grip, it was doable but not what I wanted in an approach for blowdrying.

Did anyone else have trouble hanging unto the handle? It seemed to narrow for the size of the brush head and there was no grip to the handle as advertised....what there was was minimal at best. The brush I use now has a rubber grip which gives me stability and control.

Any suggestions you can share would be appreciated. Would like to try the brush again one day since I will be needing to replace what I have shortly.

I had the same problem. I can use my other round brush just fine but the handle on Chaz's brush is just a challenge for me so I went back to the brush that I was using before.

how is his brush different from others?

There are other round brushes with boar and plastic bristles but this one has a pointy end and it says Wen by Chaz Dean. Medium and Large in my case.

No, the brush is not difficult to hold. It is actually easier to twirl and separate hairs with the pointy end.

Re: WEN Round Styling Brush!

I use these I got at Sally's. I have super fine, super thick hair and have tried different boar only brushes, but find they don't get a good grasp on all the hair, even in small sections. I like a mixed boar and nylon bristle brush for brushing and round brushing. These have a great grip on them, so they don't make you hand tired, nor fall/slip out. The part of the handle at the base of the brush is a rubber grip that is super! On the end is a pick you can turn out to use if you need to section hair.

Maybe to you it isn't but for me it is. I'm not even going to bother with the twirling since that's even more impossible so I'll stick to just straightening my hair with a round brush.

Re: WEN Round Styling Brush!

Is the brush different from any other boar brush you've used?

Or just different from synthetic brushes?

TIA

Re: WEN Round Styling Brush!

For many of his videos he uses the Spornette boar bristle ones like the below. The only real difference is the shape of the handle and the name. He used them religiously before he developed his.

I can sympathize with this. I don't find the WEN brushes especially easy to hold either. I'm sure that varies from person to person, since hand size and strength varies. I don't have as much strength in my hands as I used to. Maybe that has something to do with it. Also, I'm sure people with carpal tunnel or arthritis may prefer certain types of brush handles. Not all brushes will work well for everyone--that's why they make so many kinds.
