It has been bumped twice by the same poster - check it out.

Both bumps concede with up-coming visits from Chaz.

Coincidence? Smile

Oh yeah, don't think I didn't notice. And it wasn't the only old post that the poster bumped up. Not real sly, eh?

Well wen is currently being sued for this so who knows. I would stop using wen and see if your hair grows back then you will know for sure. maybe be checked for allergies against whats on the wen ingredient list

Yep, I'm sure once you stop using WEN your 10 bald spots will immediately grow back in and you won't need to get injections anymore. Pity the person sticking needles in your scalp didn't tell you that conditioner could be making random bald patches on your head. Oh well, once you stop the WEN you won't have the problem anymore so it's all good.

sounds kind of mean ^^^^^^

Sounds kinda? It is very sarcastic!!!

Great points, surfk! I've been to doctors for bald spots just like those the OP described and have NEVER been asked about use of Wen or ANY HAIR PRODUCT. NEVER. In 2010, three doctors conferred about my condition (one a relative) and the subject never came up.

Ok, I just replied about my Wen experience a couple days ago. I just saw a news report about a very popular preservative called methylchloroisothiazolinone and other iazolinones causing a lot of allergies in people lately. The symptoms are similar to eczema, ie skin irritations, redness, peeling, etc. These preservatives are the last two ingredients in all Wen conditioning cleansers. I have a feeling this is the cause of hair loss in some people using it. I personally don't feel this is a big problem for me so I will continue to use Wen, but it certainly is something to think about. These chemicals can be found in a million products, like baby wipes, hand soaps, shampoos, etc. It might pay to read labels!

Or NOT pay...considering the original topic! ha ha

Don't you think maybe the ambulance-chasing law firm is widely publicizing this supposed "case" in order to attract additional litigants? Out of the millions of people who have used Wen for many years, there are six people attempting to get "class action" compensation. A higher percentage of people have problems with drinking water.

If there is a "known manufacturing defect" why haven't they provided it as "proof"? The lawsuit is directed at Guthy-Renker, but if there really is some weird "defect", wouldn't Guthy-Renker then sue the product formulators from which they licensed the products?

Methylchloroisothiazolinone - this is one of the preservatives used instead of Parabens, because conspiracy theorists made everyone terrified of parabens. Methylchloroisothiazolinone causes way more allergic reactions and irritations, but...it's not a paraben!

No matter - it NOT in Wen cleansing conditioners anyways.

Water, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry) Bark Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Vegetable Oil (Olus Oil), Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Polysorbate 60, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Amodimethicone, Citric Acid, Menthol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde.

The products must have different ingredients depending upon where they are sold? I wonder if they have completely different manufacturers? I almost bought WEN here on QVC, but now I won't, because I don't want to use Methylchloroisothiazolinone! I have bad skin reactions from it...exactly like you wrote about. It wouldn't surprise me if the irritation caused scalp issues and hair loss. That makes perfect sense.

But. back to the lawsuit attempt, I don't think this could be considered a "manufacturing defect", because methylchloroisothiazolinone is allowed in cosmetics with short duration skin contact, such as rinse-off hair conditioners. Possibly it's a "defect" because Wen says that it can be used as a leave-in, and that could cause nasty skin reactions.

Cosmic 1 nailed it. It IS a fallacy to think that shampoo is a must to cleanse the hair and scalp. Anyone who has bald issues, I feel sorry for but there are tons out there bashing Wen so when I see someone complaining of this problem I'm skeptical. I believe it is alopecia like some of the other posters. The doctor must have told you what the problem is before implementing any attempt of a cure, again like other posters said.

Dear mariem60....
I also have had this happen, but what I noticed first was handfuls coming out when I ran my fingers thru dry hair....I even tried again later, same results...I have very curly hair, dry and such, but it used to be nice curls, not frizzy...now, since WEN, it's very thin and whispy and the curls are very small and frizzy...I hate it

I used Wen sweet almond mint cleansing conditioner for a month or two. One day I asked my granddaughter if my hair seemed thinner. The next day I read that Wen causes baldness! So I stopped using it. Probably 1/2 of the volume of my hair is gone. I have never had this problem before. Does anyone know if it will grow back in time?

How can you say Wen does not cause baldness? I am glad people are sharing this info because my hair was falling out using Wen and I stopped using it when I read that other people were having the same problem. I could have gone to the doctor and spent hundreds of dollars for them to tell me that it is probably caused by something new in my routine, which Wen cleansing conditioner was.
