Very pigmented lips,a problem for anyone but me?

They say as we age we lose color in our lips well my 51 year old siser and I (57) still have these dark pink lips we both hate.Its impossible to wear sheer lipstick or gloss which is what we both like.At the Mac counter the SA told us to use concealer first.Ugh,cakey pale lips that looked worse.Anyone else have this issue and if so whats your fave lip color that looks good.TIA
