I would never put it in my face, but that is just my 2 cents, think of what it is made from. Beauty brands that dont contain petroleum or mineral oil brag about that, and the ones that do contain it, never mention it. It costs pennies for mfg to use it in their products.

Vaseline, aka petroleum jelly, has been around for decades.  Have never heard of any recall or problems associated with it.

However, I would not put it on my face--too greasy--but for the rest of my body I would use it and do especially on feet.

Just about every product has a downside and at least this product has been around for a long time with no significant problems that I'm aware of.

The ones putting it down are from the unregulated clean beauty movement.   Most grew up with vaseline in the household - with no harmful affects.

Only use I have for it is to apply to it to my hairline and around the sides of my face when applying home hair color, it does a wonderful job of keeping the dye from discoloring the skin, it must be so occlusive that the dye cant get rhru it.

It's the most occlusive product found today. It has been used safely on skin for over 100 years and has no evidence of carcinogenic effects with it's use. It is noncomedogenic and helps heal the skin.

ETA-

Vaseline (petrolatum) is the jelly form of mineral oil.

I cant understand how it can be so very occlusive, yet be non comedogenic at the same time. It is literally smothering the skin.

I use it alot for dry patches on my face--justs seems to do the job---it's easy and feels good!! If my hands/feet are super dry, I rub them with it too, and wear cotton gloves/socks----it melts and absorbs fast----and no scent!! And it is CHEAP to buy!!!

I've used it under my eyes and on eyelids and lips at night for many years, as did my mom.  Now, it's just a pinhead dab on both but it keeps those sensitive areas free from irritation and the harsh effects of winter cold for me.  Love it.
