My first thought (if using as recommended) is about 15 pumps at two cleansing a day, so that’s 30 pumps a day, 7 days a week how are your drains doing?

OP, when I entered perimenopause my hair started thinning. This was in my pre-Wen days. Then a medication I was put on took a HORRIBLE toll on my hair. Falling out soooo bad, I was getting really worried about baldness! That's when I happened to be channel surfing and happened on Chaz doing one of his shows on the Q. The rest is history. And stopping those pills. Almost 2 years later my hair is thicker than when I was much younger, and I have let the natural curl take over and grown it longer. And I like it, for the first time in my life!
But seriously, as an advanced practice nurse, please let me caution you that if this continues you should consult your health care provider. There are many reasons hair thins, for example, mechanical - too much tension from ponytails, hormonal as I experienced with perimenopause, medication reaction, ditto, and thyroid problems, another type of hormone problem. Don't suffer. If you can afford Wen you can afford to see someone.

So that means you are using a hot iron twice a day, also? You are lucky you are not bald. Yikes!

I don't know how old you are but when you reach a certain age, thinning of the hair will happen (although this doesn't happen to everyone). Sometimes thinning can be caused by medications. If you have been using Wen for years with no problem and now have a problem, there may be a hereditary or health issue.
If you think it is the Wen, stop using Wen and use another shampoo and see if your bangs resume to the way you think it was.

Just a note, people that put their makeup on in front of the bathroom mirror have a bit of a shock when they use a magnified mirror to put on their makeup. All those long facial hairs, a mustache possibly, larger pores, blotchy skin tone and more appear magically. Sometimes getting new eyeglasses with a new prescription opens up a new world for us.

I really don't intend to flog anyone, but I have a serious question. Many of you say your hair is thicker than it's ever been since using WEN. Do you mean the individual hairs themselves have become thicker or do you mean that there are more hairs coming out of your scalp now? I can't see how any product could create more roots on the scalp than already exist. Or perhaps some of the hair follicles have died through the years and they are rejuvenated? Can anyone explain this?

Perkup, I've been using Wen exclusively for two years now and I'd say it's all of the above for me. The tea tree line especially has helped rejuvenate my scalp so the hairs grow better and faster--you can see when I need my roots touched up much sooner when I use the tea tree oil/cleansing conditioner. Plus, and it is the gods honest truth, my hair is thicker from root to tip like in the demo Chaz does. My hair was very very much finer at the ends and was breaking like crazy before using Wen--but now my hair is truthfully as thick at the end as at the scalp...BUT, I have given up all hot tools and pin up my hair at night. I can't say my amazing hair is just from using Wen--I had to stop using the damaging styling tools--Other people may be fine with them, but my hair is very very bleached, so it tends to be fragile anyways--but giving up heat and using Wen has made my hair very long, very thick--I am constantly getting comments on it, and people who've known me for years have said some very positive things about how my hair has changed for the better since starting using Wen.
I'm not here to try to sell Wen to anyone--it's totally up to the individual if they feel Wen is right for them or not--I'm just saying that Wen--the products and the instructions how to use them and how to keep from damaging your hair--all that has made an absolutely amazing difference in the quality, density and everything about my hair...Wen girl for life!! ![]()

There are all kinds of issues that can cause hair loss, some, like hormone issues, have been mentioned by other posters. Other things include extremely high protein and other weight loss diets.
You should check with your doctor. If you have a hormone imbalance, thyroid issues, or the beginnings of other diseases you need proper treatment.

That's excellent advise.
About five years ago (two years before I started using Wen), over the period of a month, I lost one third of my hair in the shower. Originally it took six fingers to hold my hair at the base of my scalp (and, yes, one finger was from my other hand). One month later it only took four fingers to do it.
I was toward the end of menopause and my GP just said that these things happen and there was nothing I could do about it. Well, that was the end of that GP.
As I went over the past month and tried to figure out what I had been doing differently, I realized that I had run out of Royal Maca (by Whole World Botanicals) about a month before and I had forgotten to buy more of it.
About maca...
I had started taking it when I became extremely fatigued. My ovaries were shutting down and no longer producing the the hormones I needed to keep my body in balance. Maca is a precursor to pregnenolone which gives the adrenal glands a co-factor they need to ramp up hormone production for menopausal women. I prefer maca over bio-identical hormones because maca is a precursor to a precursor. So I feel I'm less likely go get hormone overload: the adrenals just take what they need and leave the rest. -- If you are interested, I recommend the Whole World Botanicals brand because they use cooked maca which is how the Andean people have eaten it for hundreds of year. Since maca is a dense root, I think it is more bioavailable this way. Daily dosage: 1/8 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon maximum (start small and titrate up very slowly over a period of a month until your body feels you have the right dosage). Maca is adaptagen and taking too much can have some strange side effects.
Getting back to the hair loss thing...
It turns out that maca also has an ingredient that inhibits an enzyme responsible for male pattern baldness. And there was some evidence that it could help hair loss for menopausal women. So I had been protecting my hair without knowing it. That is, until I ran out of maca...
Two weeks after I started taking the maca again, my excessive hair loss finally slowed down and in a few more weeks it had stopped. After about another year, most of my hair grew back. These days I can put five fingers around my healthy head of hair.
Needless to say, since then, I've been taking my maca every day!
