You'll more benefit from the oil treatment if you apply at night, leave it on while you sleep, and cleanse in the AM. I just put mine one about 30 mins. ago.

Oh ok. I think I have way to much on to leave it all night I would go nuts.
How much do you put on ? are you just doing it at the scalp ? I put it all over the ends as well

1) Jojoba oil is great for a scalp treatment
Using straight jojoba oil for an overnight oil treatment is a great way to start. Jojoba oil is a great emulsifier. It will help loosen the excess dried sebum (body oil) and grit that you naturally can get on your scalp. -- The tea tree oil (also an emulsifier) just adds some additional medicinal benefits. Jojoba oil is a fine (and inexpensive) way to start.
2) I use overnight oil treatments mainly to balance my scalp's oil production. -- I had been using CC for close to a year before I did my first scalp oil treatment.
I really doubt that Wen CC creates build up on your hair. Yes, I know that some people -- usually whom we've never seen post before -- will share their Wen horror stories but they usually don't stay around to even read any follow up posts (which makes me wonder). I think it is important to rinse your scalp thoroughly after cleansing, but that's because Wen is compositionally different from shampoo. You do need to spend more time (1-2 mins) to get the excess CC out of your scalp.
3) How to start using Wen... keep it simple ![]()
Using Wen should be fun... so do your best to keep it fun.
I love Wen because it's benefitted my hair and scalp a great deal. When I first started using Wen there were only 5 core formulas, so life was much simpler.
I'd suggest that you take a step back and go a bit more slowly, so that you don't overwhelm yourself. This isn't like baking a cake. If a certain CC or treatment doesn't work, you can just recleanse your hair. Maybe do your major experimenting on the weekends when good hair days aren't as essential.
Cleansing Conditioner basics:
* wheat-based CCs - SAM, TT, FIG, LAV, CA
* soy-based CCs - 613, Seasonals, & POM
* rice-based CCs - BGT, Kids CCs
* CCs w/ amino acid complex - 613, BGT & Seasonals
From everything I've read the CCs that most people don't have issues with are TT and POM.
If you don't have thin/fine hair (or maybe even if your do), SAM and FIG seem to work well. -- Some people (like me) with thin/fine hair find SAM and FIG too heavy for their hair.
4) If you have thin/fine/porous hair then the amino acid complex is probably your friend. If you have healthy hair, or thick/coarse hair, then go slowly with the amino acid based formulas.
5) Keep asking questions. That's why we're here.
Best of luck with your jojoba oil treatment tonight... it's going to be fine!!!

The TT Oil is backordered, so I used some of my pre-Wen oils until they were available. There is no comparison. I ended up getting the oil from eBay.
I use 3 droppers of oil the night before I cleanse. I apply it to my scalp and rub the ecess throughout my hair.
For my hair, I know that I need protein when I see my ends breaking or when my hair gets too soft. That knowledge comes with time. 613 and BGT have protein.
It took close to 6 months for me to find the best formulas for my hair.

wow great information.
My hair used to be thick but due to years of undiagnosed crones, colitis and a host of food intolerances I have been left with thinning hair especially on top . Im working on the food issues but digestion troubles have taken their toll.
I have been using Fig as my hair is also dry now but I do have some Pom and SAM so I kindof switch around. My hair always looks great the first day but second day not so much. Maybe the fig it to heavy for me I had not thought of that. My hair is naturally curly as well.
Ill start out with t
he oils I have at home till my tea tree comes. I have avocado oil jojoba and coconut to work with.

The Treatment Oils are mainly for scalp treatment: they help keep the scalp balanced and healthy.
Use 3-4 dropper fulls on your scalp. I realize that you probably don't have a dropper with the jojoba oil. See if there is another dropper around your house that you can use. Otherwise just put a bit of jojoba oil in the palm of your hand (maybe 1 inch by 1 inch). Rub your hands together and then rub the oil into your scalp. Do that 3-4 times. Stop when it feels like the oil has saturated your scalp. It's sort of a moisturizer for your scalp, similar to the way you put body lotion on your skin.
You can put some jojoba oil on the rest of your hair. It acts as a sort of sealant for the hair.
Best of luck!!!

I have a big stash of WEN oils. From the large bottles, I'll use 3-4 full droppers and apply it directly to the scalp (more from the smaller bottles, of course). Each time I fill the dropper, I then take the tip of the dropper and run it along my scalp, making sure I get it all over. Then I go under the hair and massage the scalp for a couple of minutes. Whatever gets on my hands, I will rub in the length of my hair. When I'm done, I lightly twist my hair and pile it on my head and put a turbie towel over it, and sleep that way. In the morning, I do a double cleanse.

OK clearly I used way to much tonight. I didn't know
I used jojoba, coconut and avocado !! it also was probably not the best time to decide to count the hairs in the tub drain. A frightening amount. Possibly the oil plus massaging it in . Well see Ill count again next time.
I went to a hair specialist and she found that my ferritin was 17 and in order for good growth and to get hair out of the shedding phase it has to be 75-100. If you have thinning hair please ask for this test. Its not the normal iron test that was fine it is the FERRITIN which is what your body stores. Mine is out of whack due to the digestive issues .
I have also been eating a vegan diet for the last three years to help with my issues so I may have been lacking something so Im taking a good whole foods vitamin and B12 and some iron so its helping my fingernails so hopefully that means its correcting something I was lacking.
