Using eyeliner as eyeshadow

I was a level 8 with the latest Ulta rewards, so I had to choose multiple items. I picked up an Ulta ultimate gel eyeliner in smoke which was a free level 3 gift. When I got home, it was too light as an eyeliner but looks great as a shadow with no creasing. I'll probably use it with benefit skinny jeans. I've used eyeshadow as eyeliner before but not the reverse.
