Re: Using different types of cleansers and/or moisturizers on different areas of face?

U get what U pay for in this world. In other words, I'd ignore these posts and go visit a dermatologist.

You really have sensitive skin. I could use lye on my face & not break out. I use a gentle foaming cleanser like Neutrogena or Clean & Clear. Another solution might be a green tea cleansing bar. I use Boots 7 moisturizer. All are drugstore brands.

I heard a famous older model once say not to use the same products on your face each day because using the same products can cause breakouts and they also lose their effectiveness being used on a daily basis. I have three different cleansers, three different moisturizers, a vit c product, two eye products, two retinol products and two different sunscreens. I seldom use the same products two days consecutively. Also, I use Burt's Bees acne toner on my mature face to prevent breakouts. The regime of mixing things up helps to prevent breakouts and irritation and the products seem to work better.

Anyone can say anything.

Of course each of us has to have a regimen that we think is effective, but I don't believe this famous older model is correct. If a group of famous older dermatologists stated that using the same products can cause breakouts or become ineffective and backed it up with some data, I might give it some weight.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing and commiserating!

I DO have very fussy skin. But I used to be able to stick with a couple of key things and have no problem. No, I can't seem to please my skin no matter what I do. I try to do and use as little as possible. Right now I am just not happy at all with my skin. It's so cranky -- it's making me cranky!!!!

AngelPuppy, I experienced similar, frustrating issues about 15 years ago ... tried all brands of lotions and potions and ended up making my skin worse. I finally decided to see a dermatologist, for the first time ever, at age 40. That one visit changed my skin and my life! All of the hormonal breakouts, dry skin patches, redness, etc. disappeared when I learned from the derm what I needed for my specific skin. I really recommend that you seek professional advice from a derm also so that you, too, can stop the madness once and for all! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
