Shampoo is for cleaning of the hair and conditioning is for dry hair to make it more manageable and softer. I would use both. Conditioner is not a cleanser O/P.
All you need to get your hair clean is something that breaks down dirt and oil and allows it to be washed away. Conditioners do that.

I wash my hair with shampoo to get the oils and hair products out. A conditioner alone makes my hair feel dirty. What about our faces? Should we use conditioner?

Sure you can. I have (I don't wear much makeup). Honestly, the idea that we need all the things we do to wash ourselves is a construct of the beauty industry.

yep and many fall for it, hook, line and sinker.
And before there was "shampoo", people used oils and herbs to "cleanse" their hair for thousands of years. Gasp, imagine that!

ITA! His stuff is overpriced hype and nothing else.
I wish people would not dismiss a product as "hype" just because they don't like it! It's NOT "hype" if it works...which it does for me. Most of us who try ANY type of co-wash probably would not have done so if we were happy with our hair after using shampoo.
I won't argue "overpriced", it is expensive!
However, I've given up some other "expensive" products that weren't making any difference in my hair/skin/nails, etc. in order to afford my WEN.

If I do that (just conditioner) my hair would be flat and oily. What I do sometimes is mix a little conditoner in with the shampoo toward the end. I do use Wen sometimes, but my biggest issue with it is I have to rinse and rinse and rinse. I mean I do not have that kind of time to spend. It turns out good when I use that but ... and I have tried following his instructions and then using less but it is always a long rinse out.
It seems like as I am aging my hair is really changing - not in a good way either.

mamadukes if it's working for you, then keep doing what you're doing. Everyone has their own preference and strong opinions, obviously.
For me, I use Wen which works well for me. It cleanses great without over drying, and I use Fig, the most moisturizing formula for my long, wavy, fine but parched hair. I switched in June 2014, and my hair has been improving ever since. It's still on the dry side, but I've gone back to shampoo & conditioner a couple of times, or other co-washes (Carol's Daughter Hair Milk, and Deva Curl), but they always make my hair even more parched and remind me that Wen is working the best for me.

I love what WEN has done for my hair and I get so many compliments from my hairdresser who has seen the change through the years. I would never go back, you can keep your shampoo. Reminds me of the folks who used iodine and babyoil for suntan lotion. That was cheap too!I've been using shampoo for 51 years and my hair is just fine. Back when I was dyeing my hair auburn wen cucumber aloe striped out 100% of the color out on the first use. I never had that stripping so fast before
