It is so funny that you posted this. Just last night I said to myself, "Why not use this stuff up?" That's exactly what I'm doing.

Thanks for all replies! I think it's easy to get caught up in all the hype and then find yourself with drawers full of products. I know that happened to me and I finally decided that I was tired of chasing after the next best thing that was going to give me younger gorgeous skin. And I also paid much more attention to the claims that said they all pretty much "help reduce the signs of fine lines and wrinkles" etc. When you think of that, they are not really promising much that any decent moisturizer could do. I was an avid buyer of dream products who posted about them regularly on here. But actually, nothing made drastic or major changes in my skin. I am lucky to have skin that is pretty much free of problems at 63. So I'm going to enjoy that and simplify because I really have had a change of heart. Glad there are other posters who feel this way too.

I am finally learning not to jump for every new product that comes out that makes such ridiculous claims. I have dwindled down my stash and have found what works for me. Love Skinn but I don't jump on every new product that he comes out with.

I am doing the same thing. I have so many products that I need to use my shower stall as a storage area. Lucky I have a separate tub to bathe in. At age 68, there are no miracle creams. I use Hydroshield and Dr. Denese day cream as my foundation/sunscreen. At night I use whatever I have on hand. If I live long enough to use up all my cleansers, I will go back to SCA coconut meltdown.

I was interested to read this thread. Elle is for Living on You tube is doing something similar in using up her BUS (Back of Stash). She also has a video about do we need all this stuff.
I think, JMO, that if we consistently pay some attention to our skin it is a help.
This is just my opinion and I agree with you all.

Agree. At 73, I don't have perfect skin, but I still have skin that gets compliments and still surprises people who don't know my age - they need to learn to look better!
There is no magic - I've also been using down my stash of skincare and adding to it as I see fit.
But the other thing I know is that, assuming you have discretionary money to spend, there's no harm in CHOOSING to use it to buy skincare. That's why it's called discretionary income!
Some people choose to buy new cars frequently, some people choose to live in large homes or two or three homes, some people choose to buy gold instead of bronze. Some people choose to be ascetics and give their earning to others. Some people scatter their choices.
I'm a scatterer -first I save, then I spend for my basics. After that I donate. Finally I splurge. I've done that for years and years. Various amounts and percentages over the years depending upon my earnings and my needs, but pretty much those categories in that order. At 73, I do still save first - not sure when that will end. I do still splurge, too although my splurges have changed.

virgosun, I agree with you that all these different products do one thing -- soften the skin. I do not spend $$$ on facial creams or serums as I never believed in them. I guess when I heard on TV years ago that drugstore vs. expensive is basically the same, I never invested in the $$$ products. I found my HG in a facial cleanser after liking many but this product really cleans my skin and does minimize the look of pores. It's Neutrogena Pore Refining facial wash. When I take a cotton ball with witch hazel on my skin after washing, there is no trace of makeup. I never experienced that before with other facial washes (there was always makeup left over). My moisturizers are under $20 and I use Marula oil once a day.

(I bought about a dozen extra stacking bins to "organize" mine, in addition to using three bathroom cupboards. And it's still just as bad! Oh...did I mention the things I have stored in the basement? Crazy, crazy, crazy. Okay, I'm off to start throwing things out right now. No time like the present and tomorrow's trash day!)

I am getting into that mindset as well. I have a ton of ASDM creams and I love them but my skin gets product over load and breaks out. I am now down to some oils for my face, retin-a and benoquin for my vitiligo. I use the creams up on my neck. It may take me a year to use them up, lol. I also use Vit C Serum and SPF because they keep the vitiligo spots away. I still love Purity cleanser the best after many years. I don't even polish my nails and removed the acrylics many months ago. My nails have never been healthier. I still am a freak about hand and body creams. I have some in every room in the house.

Katluvr I know it almost feels like a relief to get off the merry go round at least for awhile. I still use a Vit C serum daily under my sunscreen and at night I use one of several serums I still have and a moisturizer, again one of several in my group of things I didn't toss. I have a few eye and neck creams that I apply when I feel like it. But I'm determined to use up these products and see how my skin looks and feels. I am pretty sure they will all work just fine but I know they are not miracle workers and that's ok.
