Was just browsing through setting powders and wondered is there really a difference between a setting powder made just for undereyes vs regular setting powder for the face?
Just wondering cuz I saw both on Ulta's website and wondered what the difference is or if there really is one.
For those that use both, what differences have you found?

In my experience, undereye setting powder is more finely milled, super soft.

I read that undereye primer is suppose to help your undereye concealer from caking, but I don't see why it's always necessary.
I use a cream for hydration and concealer for lines and undereye circles; since both last a long time on me I don't use the primer. If a concealer tends to cake or dry out, it's the wrong choice and not right for one's skin type. A good concealer shouldn't cause that problem in the first place IMO.

I was in Beall's Outlet one day and there was two Laura Mercier Undereye Setting and Brightening Powders on the shelf, $9.99 each. I scooped those up.
There is definitely a difference between this and regular setting powder, it is so light and fine milled. It doesn't settle into wrinkles or enhance them, whether over concealer or just by itself. I apply it with a very light hand and a fluffy little blush.

Yes, there is a difference in those two types of setting powder. A powder for the undereye is brightening and more finely milled. Laura Mercier makes the best one I've used. A primer will help the concealer stay on longer, but not necessary to use both unless you wear creamy liner on the bottom lid.
To keep concealer from creasing, when using setting powder, place your pinky under the eye and gently pull it taught while applying powder with a small fluffy brush like a shadow blending brush.
I don't use it on myself because I do hydrate the undereye area, tap on a bit of oil before and then use corrector and concealer. Neither of mine have that much "shine" and I prefer a dewey look on the rest of my face, so I think it would look odd to have matte undereyes and then not match the texture of my face.
If I wore makeup for an occasion where I needed concealer to last for a long time, I may use the brightening powder by LM and that's the only one I use on clients...in fact that powder is the only undereye setting powder I have because it does brighten the area. I don't see any shimmer, but it does lighten/brighten the area.
If you found 2 for a reduced price, you snagged a bargain!!!

@JudyL I have tried many powders to set my under eye concealer and my favorite is No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Finishing Powder. It's a pressed powder and I use a small flat topped brush to press it under my eyes after concealer. It does a great job of brightening and also softening the look of any fine lines. It's about $13 at Target or Walgreens.
It also does a nice job on the entire face though I prefer a loose powder for the rest of my face.

@lkat thank you for the recommendation. I've heard of that powder somewhere, think it was a YTuber who mentioned liking it.
