Re: Ulta and Their $3.50 Coupons!!

just like all the Macy's coupons they send me and can't use on most the things I want to get! In fact they no longer have clearance included because it's called I think "last act".

Re: Ulta and Their $3.50 Coupons!!

Ulta is expensive compared to Target or Walmart. You need $3.50 off just to get close to their prices. It's only worth it to shop there for drugstore brands if you stack coupons. My Ultas are heavily travelled so your chances of finding exactly what you went in for (lipstick color, e/s color, especially NYX) is 50/50.

I wrote to Ulta about it:
"Received your latest ad to start Sunday, April 17th and noticed that the $3.50 off coupon is for $15 and up and not the previous $10 and up. In deference to your loyal customers, the redemption should have been increased to at the least $4 off or at the most $5 (to equal the previous 1/3 off the price).

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have noticed this. Please either up the redemption amount or lower the cost total. Thank you. "

Their response:

"Hello 'Customer Name',

You recently reached out about our promotion.

We greatly apologize for the inconvenience.  Your suggestion will be forwarded to our corporate office.  We understand this has been frustrating.

We’re so glad you got in touch and want you to know how happy we are that you shop Ulta.

If you have any other questions, you can respond directly to this email."

Thanks so much,

Wow....what a disappointing response. But I wouldn't expect anything else from customer service.

Funny you should say that @scatcat.  I like Tigi's Bed Head Manipulator for my hair and it's 22 dollars at Ulta.  I was browsing around the grocery store today and it was 16 dollars.  I couldn't believe it.  Truthfully, I would never think to get my high end hair products at the grocery store, it's just not an association my brain makes.  I will have to change that though.

And then, there are all the excluded products!

IDK about other Ultas, but here the coupon is only good on their products (ulta brand) AND then they exclude some of those.  They are waste of time for me.  But if you can get get something you need with the coupon, that is great.  No luck ever here, I quit going there.

Re: Ulta and Their $3.50 Coupons!!

The $3.50 coupon is for their drugstore products.  There's nothing deceptive or wrong with that.

Just off the top of my head, the following is a list of a few prestige brands available in downtown Chicago area Ultas:

Lancome, Clinique, Clarins, Smashbox, Tarte, Urban Decay, Laura Geller, Becca, IT, Mally, Lorac, Lipstick Queen, Stila, Bare Minerals, Philosophy, Dermalogica, Perricone, Peter Thomas Roth, Pur Minerals, Too Faced, Benefit, Anastasia, LeCouvent Des Minimes, Ahava, First AId Beauty, Soap & Glory, Juice Beauty, Butter London.

There are many more, plus due to their salon license they have an impressive selection of prestige haircare and hair tools.  About four times a year-- which is twice more than their competitor -- they have a 15% off these products for their loyalty customers, and there's no tier system involved with how much discount a customer gets.

Lastly, just being able to use my points when I want to... and for real products in the store (not just sample size configurations) is great.  Just yesterday I used some of my points to buy a nice ($30) "full-sized product" Quidad haircare set.

Re: Ulta and Their $3.50 Coupons!!

I know you cannot use the coupons for their prestige brands-- I use my rewards points for those items. My complaint was that the current coupon is the same amount off but now you must spend $15 instead of the previous $10 in the past that they had. They are keeping more of the cost swing with this new coupon.

I just checked the back of my Ulta magazine and it is $3.50 off $15 or more.
