I am beyond upset and angry. Just before Xmas I took my grandchildren to Ulta to shop for their mother's Xmas gift from them. They were thrilled and we had a great time picking out stuff for mom. I had a 20% coupon and when we checked out the clerk said that I could get an additional 20% off if I applied for an Ulta credit card. I did and it was apporved. The clerk rang up the sale and something went wrong with the receipt. The clerk and the manager fiddled with it for about 10 minutes and the finally called a guy in Ulta's IT department. He worked on it and the sale went through. I got two receipts for the first ring up and then the second ring up. I asked specifically if I would be charged twice. Sean, the manager and the clerk all assured me that I wouldn't be charged twice and that was just a glitch in their system. They gave me the two receipts so that I could check my statement. Well, guess what? Two weeks later and I got my statement with both charges on it. I called the Ulta-Comenity Bank number and they said that they can do nothing except file a dispute and that it will take 60 to 90 days to settle it. The bank advised me to go back to the store. I did. They advised me that they can do nothing and suggested I try guest services. Somehow I will work this out but I will never, ever shop at Ulta again. A new Sephora opened near me and they will get my business. These Ulta folks are crooks.
Sorry for the long rant.

It has been my experience that if you notify your credit card and tell them you're not paying the second charge and why, there should be no problem.

When stuff like that happens in a store, I immediately cancel the sale and get my receipt. Then, I will have it rerung up and take that receipt.
More work for them but less work for me in the long run.

@ChouChou I don't understand why the store gave you such a hard time credititing your account. A couple of months ago I was in Ulta & purchased several items. I never checked my receipt.
Several weeks later when I got my cc bill I noticed that they charged me twice for the items. I went back to the store with my cc bill/receipt & asked for a manager. She apologized & immediately issued a credit. In addition she gave me a lipstick & a 20% off coupon for my next purchase.

@ChouChou Wow that really stinks, what a hassle. I agree with what another poster suggested...call your card company and dispute the charges.
I haven't been in my local Ulta in over a year, I don't like the attitudes in there. And they don't have anything I can't get elsewhere.
Hope this works out fast for you.

So now I have TWO reasons for choosing never to enter an Ulta again.

Ulta is where my granddaughter always wants to go.
They are outrageously expensive but then so is all makeup.
I take her there because my daughter (her mother) won't let me pay for all she does for me.
I try to limit the visits to $100 but it always goes way over.
I understand about the OP being upset. I think she was given good advice about contacting the credit card company and I'd contact the bank just to make sure.

@ChouChou I am so sorry. That is frustrating, but it will be fixed. I am sorry.
I love my Ulta. It has always been easy to work with.

@ChouChou I would be upset too. Everyone is passing the buck. The store should be able to take care of the transaction immediately. Very POOR Customer Service.

A regular cc such as Visa or MasterCard would help you dispute the charges but since this is an Ulta cc - they would side with ithe store?
sorry this is happening...hope it all works out
