I may have already stated on here that I had reconstructive breast surgery after a double mastectomy about 20 yrs. ago. No cancer, but cystic breasts that clouded mammograms and I'd had many benign lumps removed. When my physician said I had this choice instead of playing Russian roulette, I made my decision within a week.
That's how I meant my plastic surgeon "buddy". He was in the operating room with the breast surgeon to insert the tissue expanders...the first step in a year long process to reconstruction.

@Dinaki wrote:Yes of caurse, it is not my business, but again, I was trying to open a discussion. Ladies ladies, it's 2020, you dont have to be so uptight about that, I havent asked you how many times you kiss your husband!
It has been made clear to me, and those who chided me were absolutely correct, that I owe you an apology. Upon reading your post I got huffy thinking you were being nosy about a personal issue and overreacted. But you were just curious and as you said just opening up a topic for discussion. Please accept my apology.

WOW....just WOW!
I guess you don't agree that's an awfully personal question to ask on a bulletin board. That's ok. Different strokes and all that......
I can agree that maybe it's a personal question, BUT why the nasty response rather than just moving on!? Just don't get it.
I do realize I was was rude. I made an aplogy.

For my 60th b-day I had a tummy tuck and breast lift. Nine years later, I'm still perky and my stomach is flat.

Upper eyelid surgery and I am delighted with results. Easy procedure under a local.
My lids had hooding and I looked sleepy. Happy every day I had it done.

No cosmetic surgery, but I have had two c -sections that left a really ugly vertical scar. Two different doctors sewed me up..one on each side. They didn't line up the incision correctly.
I thought about having it revised, but just never seemed to get around to it. No one sees it and it doesn't bother me much anymore. It did when I was younger.

I commend you, @shaggygirl . It's not easy to apologize, and it's refreshing to see -- especially these days, when we all seem to be on more of a hair trigger.

It's not always done for vanity. I used to sit next ot a lady who had her eyelids done and it wasn't because she thought it would make her beautiful. She was very happy with the results. She has since passed on and I still miss her in choir.
For me, I guess it was vanity. I had been self-conscious all of my adult life by the pooch below the belly button left from childbirth. No amount of exercise would change it. I went to an informational "seminar" at my local plastic surgeon's office and decided to get a look-see. I got a good deal on it, and I knew that this practice had a very good reputation, so decided to take the plunge. I got that and my saddlebags (something else that doesn't respond to exercise) done. I did not, however, let them cut into the muscle for a tummy tuck, just liposuction. The recovery was terrible. My husband had to help me out of bed and I often ended up sleeping in the easy chair becasue I also couldn't turn over.
I have been extremely happy with the results. The tummy is not perfect becasue I wouldn't do the full tummy tuck, but it's only noticeable when I'm in my underwear which nobody is going to see me in anyways. You can still see some of the stomach muscles. I think the saddlebags were the best money spent.
Now, I'm short and stockily built, so no matter what I do I'm not going to be an underwear model and I look pretty plain jane in pics, but I'm happy with what I see in the mirror.
I would love to get a nose job since I have always hated my nose, but I don't think I could survive having to be a mouth breather for the recovery period. I can't even handle one night of mouth breathing when I get a bad cold.
@Shanus, I have "lumpy" breasts. Had a biopsy several years ago. The surgeon told me I had fibrocystic breast disease which basically means lumpy breasts. He told me I could minimize it by giving up caffeine and chocolate. Yeah, no, that ain't happening. Since, I have only had to go back once for a re-do on the mammo.
