So I have worn lipstick since I was probably 17, when I started working (in the 70's). I have mentioned before that my only makeup obsessions are lipstick and blush.
There are several posters here whose posts I have read who use lip glosses and love them. Some I have tried tasted weird or were just sticky. So, when the lip oils (ELF) came out, I grabbed a few and do like them because they are lightweight, and I like them, but the color punch isn't much.
In a post a few days ago, @monicam mentioned and offered pictures of several glosses. I am loving the pinks in gloss and blush but was drawn to the Fenty Fuschia Flex, such a pretty color. So I have had a gift card from Ulta since Christmas from my grandkids. I went ahead and grabbed that gloss (I'm stingy and 21$ for lip gloss hurts me!!). Anyway, I really like the consistency, but I dunno about the color. For a gloss, it's pigmented, but I think maybe a bit too dark for me. It's so pretty, but I gotta play with it. I may pass it along to my daughter if I can't get used to it. But it's nice enough where I would try a lighter color at some point.

@bmorechick you could try lightning it up a little with concealer on your lips first.
a little white really works well to lighten up too dark lip products. It also helps gloss stay put a little longer ...but it will shift the color from that bright fuchsia,

I mostly wear a lip gloss on top of my lipstick. I have a very dark red that I probably wouldn't wear on it's own, but can use it to change a brownish lipstick into more of a berry. Mostly, the only time I wear a gloss by itself, I'm going for a more natural look.

Glosses last about 5 minutes on me. I only use them on top of lipstick if at at all.

Thanks for the suggestion @MalibuFox...I don't wear concealer, but I can grab some from Walmart and try it!

@bmorechick first of all I'm jealous you don't have to use concealer 😉
and I hope you're able to make it work for you. I'm a lipstick person too with
a plethora of light peachy shades. Nobody else can tell, but I know they're
all different 😆

More glosses?? That piqued my interest
my only makeup obsessions are lipstick and blush.
Mine are lashes and lips (then blush). No, most lip OIL doesn't have much of a punch. I use two, Kosas and Haus Labs (Gaga). The Kosas is more pigmented, really like a gloss and Gaga's is truly an oil. I wear it to bed some nights. I won't be buying anymore Kosas (anything) because they take "clean" to a whole new level. Which means it tastes funky and doesn't last long and then tastes even funkier
IMO, Fenty glosses are one of the best for formulas. I have 3 glosses in that color family. Fenty, one from Kaleidoes and one from Too Faced. Some are warmer/cooler than the others. Wait, four. One from Lady Gaga. These are the darkest shades I will wear and I only wear them during the fall and winter. Dark colors make the lip look smaller but the "gloss" factor helps for a plumper look. I'm sorry the Fenty Fuchia Flex isn't working for you Hop you can make it work or find something similar.
Here is the lip oil still available on Sephora
Kaleidoes is only available on their website. They are an upscale Chinese makeup brand.
Too Faced Hidden Talents. You'd have to find it on eBay
Gaga's lip gloss. It's in the same family as the Fenty only warmer. I prefer cooler shades but I do wear it from time to time. These glosses mostly come out in fall and winter. Pinks and gold with pink sparkles for spring and summer.

@monicakm Thanks for those suggestions too! I think as I get older 😫 my lips aren't wearing lipstick like they used to. While I continue to wear it, I am liking some gloss as well (never thought I would say that). While I am by no means a gloss expert, I do agree with you that Fenty is a really nice formula and I'm going to try and make it work, or like I said, try a lighter shade in the Fenty.
My daughter loves Haus labs makeup! She says it's really nice.

I agree with your daughter. I only have two blush-blush/bronzer toppers and two lip products. I would love to try her foundation but a) I have way too many foundations and b) it sounds like it's not a formula for my uber dry complexion.
I enjoy using this one over the Dior pink blush. Rose Quartz
and this one over any of my bronzers. Or both by themselves. It seems to be just the right formula to be worn as a topper or by themselves.
