I bought the Milani brand of tubing mascara.  I like how it looks on, but still trying to get the hang of removing it.

I just bought a tube of elf but haven't tried it yet.  I believe it said you could just place a wet cloth on it and it was supposed to slide off??  I hope it's that easy!  I can't afford to lose any lashes!

@Imaoldhippie   It's a mascara that forms little tubes around each lash and is supposed to be more long lasting and doesn't smudge.  It's also supposed to come off more easily with water only.  I never found that to be true.

@TerryNJ  Good luck.  I tried 2 tubing mascaras and hated them both.   They actually were more difficult to remove and one even pulled out several lashes.  I'm back to my regular masara that I love and lasts all day.

I hope it works better for you than it did for me.

ELF is easy to remove. Just use a warm damp cloth, place it over your closed eye for several seconds and then wipe downwards. Might be a few stragglers but just go back and repeat the process.

@TerryNJ  I find placing a warm cotton pad over my closed lid for a minute and then sliding it down removes the mascara. The first time I wore tubing mascara, it looked like my lashes were on the cotton and freaked me out.

I've been using Merit tubing mascara and it seems to come off easier than some others.

@TerryNJ I haven't used Milani.

I have Thrive & Caliray tubing mascaras.

I use argan oil (I buy a bottle of pure argan oil on Amazon & keep it in the refrigerator & then refill a small pump bottle in my bathroom.) for makeup remover.

A couple of squirts in my hand. Massage it all over my face & lashes.

It breaks down all makeup & mascara.

Then I use my face wash. Sometimes I repeat it twice if I am wearing a full face of makeup.

The argan oil is soothing. It doesn't leave an oily residue. It doesn't sting my eyes. It removes any mascara, tubing or waterproof.

I have used tubing mascara for years with absolutely no problem taking it off. I wash my face, then use one of those microfiber cloths by Campanelli to gently wipe my eye make up off and no pulled out lashes. Started using a brand called Mireness from Australia ww-aa-yyy back in the 90's I think, from HSN and am now using tartes item. Want to find and try ELF's brand just to compare. No need to tug on your lashes, just swipe them off gently. Easy peasy.

Re: Tried Tubing Mascara

[ Edited ]

I try to keep my makeup routines fairly simple, have tried and true products I've used for years, though I do try new things...just not a whole slew of product, skincare in general...the basics, or what's basic for me.

That said...I see the discussion is mainly about whether or not tubing mascara is easy to use/take off vs. regular.

But can someone tell me the "why" use tubing to begin with? The benefits, assets of it?

I like the results I get with the regular mascaras I use...currently been loving LG's Kajal mascara, but I also use Loreal Voluminous, for my basic drug store mascara.

Years ago, for over a decade, Mally's mascara, in the white tube, was my Holy Grail...still one of the best I've every used, but long gone.

Anyway, have not even felt a need to try tubing, though I've been curious about it and why it's "a thing" and popular with some...just the latest gimmick or good reason to switch from regular? Can anyone here enlighten me on it?

My normal mascara goes on well, looks impactful, also doesn't smudge, travel and is easy to take off.
