okay I'm having issues with quoting people sorry about that.I am asking about the Tria laser not dermarolling which by the way I believe they are very similar it's just a matter of one going deeper than the other but I believe they are the exact same concept. I am just trying to figure out what type of actives are appropriate and when. I know I would not use Retin A right after a Treatment. However I was wondering if there is any reason I shouldn't use it in days off or if I can use other stronger Actives such as my bha foam the next morning. I Guess I'm just trying to treatment I think that is way too harsh in my opinion. But I was wondering if there's any reason why I wouldn't be able to use Retin A on one of my days off for the next morning or something like that well I wouldn't use Retin A in the morning but you know what I mean something with right now higher activity such as my BHA foam or something along those lines.

Ugh. Sorry. My text kept moving to different parts of the post. Just trying to figure out what to use or what the problems would be with using Actives during treatment, but not directly after. Thanks.

Hi Pardon, I saw your question before and will give you some more detail of what I am using and experiencing. You didn't say what type of acne you are dealing with, and that may make a difference as to what you can/should do. I have also been reading more since so much has been mentioned recently about not using actives when using the Tria, damaging yourself with the Tria etc., and I have also read in more than one place about the 15-20 minute window, so am careful with that.

I have cystic acne, have for years, have taken antibiotics and been prescribed topicals, plus used all kinds of acne targeted skincare. The antibiotics helped the most, but I was on them for years and developed side effects, so had to stop. I take oregano oil now and use Retin A, and since starting those 2 things it's been better, but still always there, sometimes worse than others.

When I got the Palovia laser, I did quite a bit of reading on using that type of laser on cystic acne, and I did, and it helped somewhat. I have also been looking specifically for info on using Retin A and fractional-non-ablative laser treatments together, whether it was contraindicated, etc. The combo is being used to treat precancerous skin growths, among other things, so it is done.

I am currently using my Retin A every 2nd or 3rd night, and I wait at least an hour after my treatment. I have drier skin the day after, but no other side effects.

I am hoping that the Tria will help with my skin in turning over faster, which helps acne. Too soon to say I've had success, but things haven't gotten worse, either.

As far as BHA's etc., I don't know, you would need to see how your skin reacts. For those of us dealing with acne, it's not as easy to just stop using things that work, and I've already been through so many harsh treatments over the years that maybe it doesn't bother my skin as much as it might bother someone else's.

I hope this helps you, and please ask if you have any others questions. Good luck.

Well, I started week 4 this past Thursday and everything was going well until tonight...I finished doing all 4 zones on my face and had begun my second 10 minute round in which I treat my neck, chest and both hands. While treating my neck I noticed that the laser wasn't turning off when I lost contact with my skin. I also noticed that it didn't appear to be firing, well it wasn't but the pink/purple lights on both side were still shining. I tried holding down the power button, but nothing... lights still a-shining. I went to Tria's website hoping to get in contact with someone but they aren't open on Sunday which is understandable. So, I placed my Tria on a table with the laser opening facing a wall and hope it will run it's battery down and turn off. When it does, I'll try charging it and see if it will work, if not I'll call and ask for another replacement. The first Tria I got wouldn't work at all so a very nice person in their customer service department sent me a new one once they saw that I had shipped mine to them... I'm sitting here shaking my head in disbelief. Tria's quality control needs to improve. I'm so glad that I was able to treat the 4 zones on my face before it stopped working. I guess I should be glad that the laser isn't firing continuously. I did try wiping the contact points and the laser opening off but that didn't work either.

Lyn, the serial number of this unit starts with 017; the serial number of the first one I sent back started with 418... could have had a zero in front of it but I just wrote the number down starting with the 4 when I shipped it back.

I wonder what the percent of people who purchased a Tria haven't had any problems at all...

I just checked on it and it's still shining...

Did you receive an Instructions for Use manual, Tennessee Vol?

I read SOMEWHERE how to re-set it, but I can only find my Quick Start Guide right now. I'm assuming the Instructions for Use is around here somewhere. I just went to the site to see if there was a "troubleshooting" section, but didn't see one.

Come on over to the Tria - Week 5 thread. Someone else mentioned a similar problem

We REALLY need to flood them with emails about these problems. I hate to give a bad review (like on Sephora or Q) on the device if the treatment ends up being great, would hate to discourage people from trying something that could potentially benefit them. But really, this is getting ridiculous!

So sorry this has happened now. Let us know what you find out.

Yes, I did receive an instruction manual, thank you so much for responding! You are always so kind and helpful! I'll let you know if I'm able to reset it. Thanks again MarenSeattle!

Well I do hope that the Tria did turn off- but I also wanted to say I think you are abusing your machine. Tria might have had some problems with the charger they sent out so as you say quality control- but they cannot control how someone uses it. There has to be a reason that it turns off after the completion of the four zones and then for you to engage it in another 10 minutes seems like a bit much. So I hope you are honest with them about what really happened- hmmm...

MarenSeattle, I found the instruction book and the troubleshooting guide said if the lights won't go off to hold the power button down for a couple of seconds and release the button. I tried it several times but it didn't reset. The cause of the light staying on is if you release the power button too quickly... good grief! Hopefully since this is a known issue when the battery finally drains I can charge it and it will start working properly again... I wish there was an actual reset button!

Thanks again!
