Go up a step. Get a higher dose before your .025% tube runs out and then start applying the higher dose every other or every few nights in between using the .025%.

Bump it up with caution, and work toward nightly, or near nightly use. Don't expect to start noticing any results for a good three months, at the very least.

Thank you Jean. I'm already at nightly and have been for maybe a couple of weeks. If that glycolic acid hadn't burned so bad after starting tret, I would have thought I got a bad (useless) batch.

When I went up from .05% to .1% I alternated their applications before going to just using the .1%. I did that for about a couple of months before ditching the .05%.
But unfortunately for me my skin never adjusted to the .1% and I had flaking everyday. It was a battle to keep up with the exfoliation so I decided that the .1% was not meant for me and I quit using it, went back to the .05% and I'm happy as a clam with that.
Moral of the story is some things aren't meant to be so just move or stay with the stuff that works and look back and say 'at least I tried and I gave it my best shot'. Live and learn.

Are you using the gel form or cream form?

Cream
IMO, that's easier for the skin to adjust to. I had an awful time trying get consistent with the .1% gel. I'd get irritated and would have to take a couple days off, then start back with the .05%. I was stuck with the gel because that's what the online pharmacy offered on the .1%. When I got around to asking my NP for a prescription I specifically asked for a .1% cream and haven't had a bit of trouble with it.

My first tret was .025% cream. Then I went up to a .05% cream and then went up to a .1% micro gel which is encapsulated tret. Micro tret is suppose to be gentler but I don't know about that. That gave me super flakes and very dry, tight skin. No more of that.
