Transition lenses?

I am thinking of getting these instead of regular glasses. Anyone wear these? Do they go completely clear inside or do they remain somewhat dark? I'm really tired of not being able to wear sunglasses and have bought some that go over my regular glasses, but they are HUGE and UGLY!
Are these a good idea?...or would I be better off just getting prescription sunglasses and a new pair of regular glasses? I am way past due for new glasses and I know I am in need of a stronger prescription so I would need new glasses anyway, just hoping to not have to buy 2 pairs.
