Tranexamic Acid in Skincare - Dr. Dray

[ Edited ]

I'm a little hesitant to post about Dr Dray's video posted today called "The Truth About Tranexamic Acid" because I'm not sure I know more now than I did before I watched it.  I find her difficult to follow.  However, decided to mention it in case someone wanted to watch it and also because I've talked about Tranexamic Acid here.

She gets a bit technical in spots but when I was done watching it, I still didn't know where she stood on it and whether it is worth using or not.  Anyway, I'm going to continue using it for a few more months before I decide.

What got me to try Tranexamic acid was a video that The Doctorly did on it.  So if you want to watch something else to get a different opinion, I would try their video.  The video is called:  "The ULTIMATE Routine For Dark Spots/Doctorly Hyperpigmention and Melasma Guide" and was posted about 3 months ago.

I was once told by a Dr that the only thing that would remove a dark spot I have on my far left cheek was microdermabrasion.  I'd previously been using a cosmetic cream to try and lighten it, but it didn't seem to be working that well.  However, it would probably depend on what kind of dark spot you have I guess.

@LTT1  - Well I've only been using it since mid-April and will sometimes skip doing all my skin care.  So taking that into account, I think it's made a difference.  I want to wait until I've been using it for 4 to 6 months before I decide if it's doing anything and that should be late summer, early Fall.  The Tranexamic serum I use is from Naturium.

@JudyL @cheriere

Thanks for letting me know this info!

I have been skipping my skin care routine lately a lot.

I ran out of stuff and am grateful to be re-ordering now.

When I looked in the mirror a few days ago I realized how much it had been working all of that time before LOL

Lol, I know just what you mean.  I'm really beginning to stop purchasing so many high collared skincare products.  I can't tell that much of a difference anymore either. ❤️

Not sure how much the Tranexamic Acid costs, but my derm froze the dark blotch on my cheek for $100.  It formed a scab which fell off after a week and then I had a pink spot for a couple more weeks.  That was a lot easier and probably not much more expensive than applying a product over a period of time.  It's been two years and my spot/blotch is still gone, gone, gone.

I recently decided to get on the bandwagon and give it a try.  I have a couple spots on my cheek that I never knew were there until a week or so ago.  🤞

Looks like Naturium is 5%, I see some on amazon that are 10%.

Wow!  I'd love ❤️ to have that done to mine.
