Been a Wen user for years. Cannot use 613.
What is the Rice formula?
I always use Tea Tree and Fig. I do use seasonals when they are available, some are okay but usually too heavy, but I'll mix them with TT.
I am ready to try something new but am totally confused about what he has on tonight. I cannot use 613 (horrible for my hair). I don't understand the Rice as I don't know what is in Fig and Tree Tea.
Help!

@Ceci Come into the WEN forum, you will get a lot more answers to for questions rather than posting in Beauty. Briefly, the WEN formulas are made with different plant based proteins. The TT and Fig - all the Cores except Pomegranate are made with wheat protein. POM is made with soy protein. Some people who are gluten free cant use the wheat formulas and some people just like one of the other for their hair better. The Seasonals and 613, and 319 are soy based. The Mandarin Italian Fig and Bamboo Green Tea as well as all the Kid's formulas are based on rice protein. The Kids formulas are known to be clear of gluten, nuts - just about anything that people are commonly allergic to.
As I said come into the WEN forum and use the search for WEN 101. There are several threads we have that explain all the formulas, talk about ingredients, etc. Many of these informative threads are maintained by @bebe777.

Hi @Ceci, as Kjelle mentioned I hope you stop by the QVC WEN forum today.
The folks are all really great and helpful... just like @Kjelle.
Today's a great day to pop in because Chaz's Wen TSV is today along with a number of great ODO and event prices plus free S&H on ALL Wen products today.
Right now I'm in the middle of sending out a general notification Alert to Wen forum members, but all the above information is in post #63 of the Wen - Notification Alerts List thread.
Also, as Kjelle was kind to mention, I've put together a number of Wen info threads. -- Kjelle gave a great summary to your question in her post.
You'll find some additional information on your question in messages #3 and #4 in the Wen FAQ - the key Wen links thread.
I hope to see you over at the wen forum later today!!!

Thank you very much @Kjelle & @bebe777!
I feel the same as @Ceci, time for a change, but unsure about a new choice.
Following your suggestions, i've just spent time at Wen 101. What a terrific resource & just a fantastic job, Bebe! now I'm much better informed.
I use Fig & now understand why my hair doesn't like 613 so much, tho I just love the scent. I'm trying 613 again, but sparingly this time.

Fig and TT are wheat based. The rice based ones are the kids, bamboo green tea and the new mandarine italian fig, wen men and the new "fragrance free".

I forgot to post, that if you can't use 613 like I can't then it's probably the extra amino acids and not the source of the protien ( unless you have an allergy).

Thanks for the info. I decided to skip this as my hair cannot tolerate 613 for whatever reason. I've tried it over the years and will not waste anymore money on it. I can't even use the 613 treatment mist. Turns my hair to straw. I just ordered TT and Fig.
Thanks again,

You will get beter informed advice from others like Bebe and HappyDaze and others and I for one will appreciate their input. But-
In all sincerity your inability to tolerate 613 is a puzzle to me. Being a WEN user for years and not knowing why the rice formulas and seasonals are different are incongruous IMO. I listen to the presentations and hear the different formulas described down to the components of the amino acid deck, every time.
While all subjects differ and results vary, as the saying goes, 613 for many has become the Rolls Royce of cleansing conditioners. Chaz recommends using 613 with any of the traditional or seasonal formulas or alone and frequently. It is described as reparative, a faster version of the treatment he performs in his salon as the "fixer" (as he's lovingly named by his celebrity clients).
Chaz has repeatedly cautioned against using protein or keratin treatments other than WEN to excess. I've never heard him caution against the "overuse" of 613 so I doubt protein is the culprit.
If you can tolerate the classics it can't be the menthol or mints or eucalyptus or any of the more common "irritants " that are a problem for some, nor can it be wheat or soy or argan oil. I seriously doubt you can have a problem with the same amino acids present in your own system.
Of course your experience is your own and if you have a reaction to any product, for you that is a real issue. However, Unfounded, unsubstantiated claims against this particular product can deprive someone of the best of the best hair and skin care available if they are disuaded from using that product by those claims.

@Ceci Remember that there's a phone number on every bottle, and Chaz has emphasized multiple times to call if you have questions about Wen, or issues with a product. From what I've heard, they're very helpful and will talk to you about what's happening. So, I'd also highly recommend you call them! I think you'll be pleased.
Good luck with your Wen!

@CoG While 613 may be the "rolls royce" of cc's for many, there are plenty out there where that is not the case. Much like the OP, I too find it drying, unless I only use a very small amount. Whether it is the protein, amino acid content or something else I cannot say. I still have a bottle that I've had for years and I have no plans to repurchase it. I also have a small bottle of the 613 styling cream that many rave about and I didn't find it any better than any other styling cream -- plus the scent turned and became unpleasant.
All you have to do is read the WEN threads and you'll see that everyone has formulas that work well for them and those that don't, and you'll find tons of opposite reactions. 613 is not for everyone. But there are certainly enough formulas and scents out there for all of us to find what we like.
