I posted on your original thread, but I now thought of something else that could be happening. My beagle had had a tumor in her parathryoid, which caused her calcium levels to skyrocket. After surgery, her remaining parathryoids were not doing their job properly (she was 13 at the time) and she had to be put on a supplement of vitamin D (which was broken down into the useable form that her body could use because her parathryoids were not doing their job). Five months after we had wearned her off the medication, she suddenly turned up paralyized from the waist down in the middle of the night. We ran to an ER that we knew carried the vitamin D in IV form and told them what we thought was causing her problem. They didn't believe us for a minute until they tested her vitamin D levels - they were almost nonexistant. This should not have happened; it was a shock to all of her doctors. Then, even with the supplement (prescription form), she was unable to hold a vitamin D or calcium level unless we gave her tums with the medication. So, you could also try getting her vitamin D and calcium levels tested. I have read so much about vitamin D for people; who would have guessed that it could have such a devistating effect on our pets. Please read my other post for additional information on chiropractic and accupuncture. Just like humans, most pets will eventually develop issues with their backs and it works wonders!
