I prefer to wash my hair everyday so that it's clean and does not smell. There are some women I work with that I can tell that they don't wash their hair often and you can smell that head smell - yuck.... I find that very ofensive for a women and some men also... There is nothing wrong with wanted to be clean everyday from head to toe and not smell like I have come across at work....

WOW ..... I didn't realize how having oily hair can be so costly.
I'm a big dry shampoo user from way back ..... and currently use Batiste because it comes in colors ..... I use Medium Brown and it not only absorbs oil but covers any roots growing out with just a few quick spritzes .... what could possibly be better than that?

I have a good friend who does not wash her hair regularly and then puts it in a pony tail. We were at a local hangout with mostly friends of hers and when she went to the ladies room one of the gentlemen approached me and asked me to talk to her about washing her hair - wow... Her head did smell and of course she never smelled it... I did not say anything to her but others did not like the greasy head and smell... That's why we wash from head to toe - you can be offensive to others.

I used to have a very oily face and scalp but after menopause my skin has somewhat normalized but I still have to wash my hair at least every 3 days or so otherwise my scalp smells like rancid oil. I'd rather have a clean scalp and I still need to recolor the roots of my hair every week as I have gray resistant hair and washing it or not washing it doesn't affect how fast the roots grow out or how quickly the color fades. I think that the air can also fade my hair color at the roots.

A bit off topic, but here's a tip to keep your hair from smelling bad. Be sure that you're drying your hair with a clean towel. Even if you wash your hair, but your towel is dirty and smelly, the hair can end up smelly, too, even if your hair is clean.
So be sure to smell the towel before putting it to your hair.
