Here's a tip. If you go to the thread I showed you and post on it, you'll be able to find it more easily in the future. Plus, mistri would probably be happy to read about your finds too.
Hey suzyQ, you just keep it up about that divine sounding cleansing milk and I might just have to break down and buy some one of these day.
Yes, I still have the thread bookmarked.
I always like to hear about organic products in particular. On the other hand, if you look at the ingredient lists for most "organic" products, they contain only some organic ingredients, not all.
So I've started to experiment with food-grade organic ingredients to make my own products. I've had a few fails, but I've only just begun...and I'm not ready to give up yet!
If/when I find or figure out recipes that work well, I will post about them.
My latest endeavors were making powder foundation and organic moisturizing shampoo. The foundation gave me yellow patches due to the turmeric interacting with oils in my skin; it was also not opaque enough to give adequate coverage, so I'm still working on that (I already have a new plan, I just have to try it). The conditioning shampoo may work if I can figure out the proper proportions of castile soap, tea and coconut milk...or if I can substitute or add some other ingredient(s). The recipe I got from YouTube left my very dry hair greasy (!!!) I concocted a deodorant that works a little better than the store-bought "organic" ones I've tried, but I want to improve on it.
Anyway, I'd like to end up with some recipes that will work for me that are organic, inexpensive and practical.

P.S.-- If you are looking for one product to clean your home, your body, your baby, your vehicle, your produce, your clothes, your dishes, your laundry, your pets, etc. I would recommend Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap. It has a ton of uses, is a bargain considering how many products you won't have to purchase anymore, and it's environmentally responsible as well as a healthy alternative to chemical cleaners and detergents. It also comes in varieties scented with essential oils, as well as an unscented (baby mild) version (baby mild being the best all-purpose formula).
You can buy it on the Dr. Bronner's site, Amazon, Vitacost, The Vitamin Shoppe, and many other online venders, health food stores or discount stores. I buy mine at a local health food store or Meijer. So far, I've used it to wash my body, wash my face, clean my toilet (I added baking soda to clean the bowl), and wash my hair. I'm thinking it will also be good to wash my makeup brushes with. I got a huge 32 oz bottle for $14 at Meijer. Considering all of the things I can use it for, I consider it a great deal. I have the baby mild and tea tree formulas, but I also look forward to trying the rose, citrus and almond scents as well.
According to what I've learned, most of our household cleaning can be done with 3 ingredients: liquid castile soap, baking soda and vinegar. Most chemical cleaners can be done away with. (I like that idea!) I will still have to purchase an automatic dishwasher detergent, but I already use vinegar in the rinse agent dispenser, and it works pretty well.
People think that buying organic is more expensive, but that is not always the case. Organic produce costs more than regular produce (store-bought, not home-grown), but your cleaning products and personal products don't have to cost more...in fact, you can purchase/make them for less if you want to do so.
I'm enjoying the process of concocting new things. It's one of the few hobbies I have these days; I know it will save me money in the long run, and it will be healthier for me.
Thanks, MrsSweetieBear, Katey, and all of the other posters who contributed, for your interest.
