Thoughts on Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

I got a sample of this foundation recently.  Findation suggested the shade Snow from other foundations I have used, but Snow was a bit too light.  I was going to go back and get a different shade, but I found that I could warm it up a little by buffing some Smashbox Halo in which I often use as a finishing powder.

My impression of the Born This Way foundation is that it's really not for mature or large-pored skin.  It settles right into those pores.  Buffing the Halo on top disguised it; however, several hours later polka dot face was back.  Most people might not notice, and I wouldn't had I not been looking in a magnifying mirror, but my eyes aren't what they used to be and I don't know whether someone with better eyes might notice.  I didn't notice it settled into fine lines, but it did settle into the deep line between my eyes and the one on my forehead.

Re: Thoughts on Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Hi there. I’ve used this foundation a few times and to me it’s so-so. I’m 41, I have noticeable pores on my face and it’s oily in some spots. This seemed to make my face oilier. And yeah, it didn’t do much for my pores either. I will say- it’s great on those days that my skin already looks good if that makes sense. It looks bad on days where I have a pimple or maybe just some weird rashy dry patches. The color match off a bit as well but that’s more my fault than Two Faced’s. I don’t use it much for all the reasons I’ve listed. And I won’t repurchase when it’s gone.

I found it to be nothing special and sent it back.

I tried a sample of it and it didn't work for my medium-tan skin tone. It had an ashy, cakey look that I didn't like.

@Icegoddess  No one sees you the way you look in a magnifying mirror.  They see your face in a regular mirror so don't worry.  If you really want coverage go with IT Cosmetics.  Laura Mercier has a full coverage foundation too and she offers very nice products.

It's not so much coverage I want, just more evening out the tone.  However, I don't want my foundation settling into my pores.  And young eyes see a lot more than these 60 year old eyes now see, thus the magnifying mirror.  I only actually use it to put eye makeup on, but I never needed one when I was younger.

Re: Thoughts on Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

[ Edited ]

I bought the recent HSN today's special with the Born this Way foundation.  I'm still not sure how I feel as I've only worn it twice.  The first time I felt that it wore away too quickly, the second time I liked it better.  (I do like everything else that came with it.)  I currently use Estee Lauder Double Wear or YSL All Hours so I definitely prefer a long lasting, full coverage foundation.  I need the coverage, but also fall into the trap of examining everything with a 10x magnifying mirror which can sometimes be horrifying Woman Surprised

It's really tough being older with textured skin that still gets somewhat oily...so hard to find something that covers and lasts all day without settling into lines and pores.  I like the two products I already use, but for some reason keep falling into the trap of trying new products hoping I'll like them more.

Re: Thoughts on Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

@lkat, I get you about always looking for something better.  I have several foundations that ae good, just not perfect.  My best match is NARS Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc which has rosy undertones.  However, I feel like it accentuates fine lines, but it's better if I mix it with a silicone product.  I have been mixing it with Miracle Blur.  I also have a couple of Doll 10 foundations.  My favorite is the Hydra Gel, but both foundations have too much yellow in them, otherwise I might be happy with the Hydra Gel.  Then, there are the BB/CC creams.  I have both Tarte and IT, neither of which work for me by themselves but mixed together I really like. It would be nice to find one foundation that works and gives the finish I want without having to tweak it somehow.
