I love my Real Techniques brushes, really the best I have ever used. You can find at Ulta and other stores, plus online.

I love the Real Techniques brushes, too. I have 5 of them and have had them at least 3 years. No shedding and they are easy to clean. I also love that you can use the Ulta coupons on the RT brushes. I have one Sigma brush and I love it. I think the RT brushes are just as good, but Sigma has a wider range of brushes, so if you need a specialty brush, check out their site.

Come to think of it, I have a couple of RT shading brushes (bought from Ulta). They're nice, too, and I'd probably buy more of this brand if I didn't have a good supply of IT brushes.

I got mine at MAC and Bobbi Brown probably 5-10 years ago. I keep them clean and they have lasted very well.

The youtube gurus say that the Sigma brushes are comparable to MAC. They have nice sets and they arent as pricey as the MAC and BB ones.

I have seen some ladies on these boards recommend ELF one dollar brushes, I tried one and it was total junk. I paid a lot for my brushes, but the fact that they lasted so well says to me that you get what you pay for.

{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}...please. A brush is a brush and most are made at the SAME factory. You get what you pay for is the oldest, stupidest, most OUT DATED phrase ever. Far too many things prove otherwise.

I have some Avon ones from when I was a Rep that I use all the time, they were inexpensive and i have inexpensive ones that werent good.

Another one voting for Real Techniques. Great quality brushes for the price. I get them from either amazon or drugstore dot com. I like these better then my BE brushes!

And color me shocked when I found out how nice the Elf Studio line brushes are. I mean for the price...just impressive that they work so well. Jury is still out on their longevity as I've been only trying them out for a couple of months.

Regarding the Elf longevity, at that price you don't mind replacing a little more often.

Re: Think it's time to replace my makeup brushes

What kind of brushes did you have? Good quality brushes should last for years. I have Everyday Minerals (cruelty free) flat top kabuki brushes for at least 5 years. It was only $12.99 and the two I have are as soft and dense as the day I purchased them. I clean them with Purity. I also have their angled blush brush. Eco Tools are comparable in quality and price. You don't need to spend a fortune for quality brushes. Smiley Happy

IT brushes. I ordered three from eBay last year for a really good price. I think they are the best.

Re: Think it's time to replace my makeup brushes

I've had my BE brushes for years. Really, over a decade. They are still soft and wonderful. Now I don't know if the quality has changed since there is new ownership but I would definitely look into these.

I do have one IT brush and it's lovely! Thankfully I keep getting various brushes in kits. I have some Tarte ones too. They are very nice but the BE ones have lasted years and years but maybe these will last as long too.

Re: Think it's time to replace my makeup brushes

Wow! After seeing this thread, I went over and checked out ADesignBrushes.com, and they are having a huge sale!

I have some ADesign brushes that I got on sale years ago and they are really nice.

I have lots of BE brushes and they are really nice.

I have some Smashbox brushes and they are really nice.

I have some brushes from Sally Beauty, from Target, from CVS, etc. and they are really nice.

SO, what I'm saying is, you can get really nice brushes from lots of places and I don't think I would use brushes from just one company. Each brand has a brush that is outstanding for a task. I doubt I could have just one brand. ( I like brushes and pick them up in kits, on sales, etc.)

Good luck!

Re: Think it's time to replace my makeup brushes

Check these websites and sign up for email to get sales alerts

Sigma Beauty

Sedona Lace, more reasonable and equal or better quality than Sigma

Crown Brush

Coastal Scents, very reasonable and have really stepped up their game

Royal Brush also known as Royal and Langnickel

Makeup Geek also carries some nice, reasonable brushes.

If you like synthetic brushes, all the Real Techniques in the drug store or ulta are excellent. Some of the e.l.f. brushes do a great job for the money. Same goes for Sonia Kashuk at Target.

Lots of great brush videos and reviews on YT.
