The new La Mer foundation...*heavy sigh*...

[ Edited ]

Free samples of the 3 lightest shades were sent to me courtesy of Nordstrom. The LIGHTEST shade #1 Porcelain, is a 3 shades too dark pink mess. #2 shade Ivory is dark by 4 shades (think MAC NW20-25) and #3 is an obvious yellow and is 2 shades too dark.

I am so SICK of not being able to find a freaking foundation light enough to match my coloring. SICK OF IT.

Geez.

Beyond that, it feels nice going on, excellent coverage  BUT....... it has SPARKLES in it. Yep, in the sunlight the glitter specks are obvious. HUGE pass. For $110 it's a major disappointment.

I feel for you! I had a consultation with Burberry at Nordies when they first began carrying the line. I argued with the rep over and over as to my light coloring! He insisted I was at least a medium. I told him I always wear the lightest! He even got another rep to "guess" at my tone! Well, joke was on him! He put his and my choices on my face. He had to eat crow! Sure enough, I was even fairer than their lightest color! So, I don't wear foundation! I use a dab of concealer where needed ( in deep winter I may cut it with moisturizer or white cream eye shadow, if necessary!). I usually use translucent powder to set my face. I love Josie Maran's coconut powder! I also love the Tarte primer! I say, unless absolutely needed, let's burn our foundations! ( bras included!)

Never underestimate the power of kindness.

Re: The new La Mer foundation...*heavy sigh*...

A long time ago I ordered a foundation from QVC from a rep who claimed that his foundation would cover everyone from the lightest to the darkest.  I couldn't understand how, but ok, I ordered it and when I applied it I look like I had been dragged face first through the dirt~!  Absolutely didn't match, didn't even look like I had a tan.... I simply looked really dirty.

Finding a match (or developing one as the OP has done) is imperative.  I'm not that light, but light enough to have trouble wit most foundations out there, if it's not too dark, it's too yellow!  I've finally found one that's perfect.....  finally....  and they better not discontinue it!

Tried the foundation. Did not like the finish, and it crept into every line and wrinkle. I am also fair and the only match for my skin is Cle de Peau radiant fluid foundation. The finish is so much nicer than the new La Mer.

I'm also very fair and understand.

Many foundations cater to the middle and leave out the very fair or the very dark skinned. It's very frustrating. Some companies have caught on and sell white foundation drops that you can mix into other foundations to get a better color match. NYX, The Body Shop, Manic Panic, and MAC all make white foundations you can add to your existing foundations. You need to make sure you match the base - oil-based drops won't work well with a water-based foundation and vice versa.

You may also want to check out fair beauty bloggers. Let them try all the new stuff and tell you if it's too dark or not! I follow Phyrra and I know that if a shade works for her, it will work for me. Here are some fair bloggers I follow:

http://www.perilouslypale.com/ (an over-40 woman)

@ChynnaBlue  I will check out those links, thank you!

I own a few of the brands of drops you mentioned.... I have no idea why but often, my skin turns red and starts to itch. I'm not sure if the combos are causing a reaction on my sensitive or what but adding drops is something that should work but doesn't due to my skin.

It ticks me off because there used to be shades that matched me. I've watched as over the past 10 years every single shade has been discontinued. It's just...yeah.

Thank you again!!

I use Dior Airflash foundation (I apply with a Beauty Blender sponge). They have several color choices, including "Ivory 100". Maybe this might be light enough for you. The finish is beautiful!

Have you tried the new Silk Foundation from Clinique? It comes in a very fair shade Porcelain and it's suitable for neutral to cool undertones. It is oil free but not drying. It is very light....

I just complemented a Dior salesperson on her beautiful foundation. She said it was Airflash. I thought you had to spray it on your face so I did not look at it. How do you use the beautyblender to apply?
