The Body Shop- bankruptcy

[ Edited ]

I just read that The Body Shop has filed Chapter 7 and has closed all of its U.S. stores.

I love their Satsuma and Strawberry shower gels as well as the glycerin bar soaps in the same fragrances.  Oh no.....

I was planning on making a trip to the mall this week to add to my stash.

Website says they'll be back soon, but what I read says they don't believe that will be the case.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Fortunately......I googled just now and saw that Amazon has a supply of some of their products.....for now.

So, in my typical "it's been discontinued, I MUST stock up" way of thinking, I just went to Amazon and stocked up on shower gel and 8 bars of soap.

Their site says down for planned maintenance?

Since they filed Chapter 7 instead of 13 they won't be coming back since they are not going to pay their bills.

Wow, I haven't shop from them in years. I used love their mango body butter. I will check out Amazon, I think I will try their soap. I've been using Beekman 1802 orange blossom soap, which I love.

I used to love their Nut Body Butter, and have spent many $$$ trying to find a replacement for it.  They're not the greatest BB in the world, but I loved that cocoa scent.  They carry then at Ulta, but the Nut one went away a long time ago.  I have found a very similar scent in a couple of Palmer's products, so I'm sure they'll soon disapper too since I'm the kiss of death for a product.  Maybe if I don't mention the specific names they'll be safe, LOL.  Nah, I doubt it.

@Redshoes07 - both the Satsuma and strawberry glycerin bar soaps are terrific and a bar lasts quite awhile. I have used them both for years.

Chapter 7 is immediate business shutdown and asset liquidation to pay creditors,  but someone could buy the name, intellectual property,  website during the process.  Chapter 11 is the Bankruptcy process where operations continue.

That's what happened with BB&B and Zulily.

I would be surprised if that did not happen and there may in fact be a buyer on the horizen if they are talking about reopening the website.  It is also what happened to Coldwater Creek.
