The Beauty Choice Awards

[ Edited ]

Just finished voting for the QVC Beauty Choice Awards. In years past I can remember finding something in most categories that was purchased and used from QVC. In taking the survey I realize how very little I purchase these days from QVC.  My money now goes mostly to Ulta which their rewards program!

Have you voted?

Re: The Beauty Choice Awards

I didn't even see this, rarely look at all the stuff on the home page, just too much. I looked at the selections and realized I've tried very few of them. I miss the days when we had so many choices from QVC. When the vendors mention now that they got the customers' choice award, it makes me think that there weren't many to choose from in the beginning. I didn't vote since I've only tried very few of the choices and wasn't wowed by any of them.

Re: The Beauty Choice Awards

In years passed, the beauty awards were QVC's choices of the ones that are best sellers. It's always IT Cosmetcis, Josie's oils, Philosophy, etc.

I don't vote...think the awards are a scam.

It's baloney, IMO.  Just a different advertising angle and promotion/marketing strategy.   There are brands nominated that I've never seen on air,

Re: The Beauty Choice Awards

I voted but only on the products that I use and like the OP, I realized that I don't buy that much beauty from QVC anymore.  For me, there wasn't a whole to vote on.  Agree with @JeanLouiseFinch that it's just a marketing ploy and the awards show is just another beauty show with nothing special, same winners every year for the same category.

Re: The Beauty Choice Awards

What gets me are the "awards" that don't match the "reviews" of customers who bought the stuff and discovered it was all hyperbole.

Look at the reviews on some of the items voted "best"....

Rastelli's over priced offerings are top on my list, but there are a LOT more if you just take the time to look., yet they "win" time and time again.

That's why the "Q" hides the reviews on most items on days when they are selling the stuff, especially if it's a TSV.

And QVC has, in the scheme of things, very FEW customers based on the buying population of the US. If that wasn't the case, they would be on the rocks, thier stock in the basement (down 60% in the last twelve months)....

You can find and read the "Investor Transcript" ( what Qurate tells thier investor base) for the first quarter:

"Qurate Retail, Inc. (NASDAQ:QRTEA) Q1 2023 Earnings Call Transcript."

The second quarter of 2023 will be reported this Friday, August 4th.

So take the "awards" with a grain of salt.

I did vote, but I find myself purchasing more and more from Ulta, Sephora or Macy's for the rewards programs and samples and free gifts. I also like to see and try color cosmetics in person, but will sometimes take a chance.

I find the same brands win over and over anyways, so my vote probably doesn't make one bit of a difference!

I don't know anything about it so I probably shouldn't say anything, but it sounds embarrassing (to QVC).  I wonder how the hosts feel about it.

Re: The Beauty Choice Awards

When I want a makeup item, I want instant gradification...not having to wait 10 days to get it. There aren't any brands on Q that I cannot purchase elsewhere. I also agree that color cosmetics are better purchased in person....especially foundations/concealer.

@Shanus

I have a good one for you!  I placed an e.l.f. cosmetics order from their website on July 9th.  My estimated delivery date is August 14th.  I've forgotten what the heck I ordered.  Such a joke.
