Tarte emphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner burning?

I just received the tarte trEYE me full-size eyeliner trio w/ liner brush. item #A215638. I lined my bottom eye lid with the emphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner in plum and it started to burn so i took it off right away. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to try the other eyeliners and if they do the same I'm going to return it. I have very sensitive eyes and only use mally eyeliners. I also use tarte LCL mascara with no problems.
