Why do they do this? Many companies lately? I say that since it seems to be a fave with so many, I just got into these...have a few from other companies too for a smudged waterproof liner and love them, Bobbi Browns being my fave. I asked Tartes customer service in an email and they said these will be discontinued. I asked since they are on sale on their main site. I see though qvc has them a set for a good price, maybe since they are going bye bye.

Really! It was?! Must google when I get home. I hear ya. We'll she was offered a lot I guess :/ who can blame her if she feels the need to do so but we depend on, get devoted to products and they don't see this. That's a reason I like Lancôme older companies...they keep items in the line a long long long time, augmenting some and updating many but keeping so much the same. Even Estée L has been good also Borgese and Orlane and la prairie ..but the lines here like Tarte, Phil, and I see Trisha Mcevoy have been discontinuing a lot over the years. Just a note, Tarte came out with the brow wand tinted gel product, I love it. It covered the few slight grey brows I had..great taupe shade and texture.Then boom...it's no longer sold. I'm sending both back even if it's been a while. I feel like we qvc shoppers are Guinea pigs to see how good a product sells then if not it gives away. It's a great product..I was shocked and let down...I really need that tint, grey hairs there stink! I've tried so many it really was that good

Companies discontinue products all the time. There is always something else to shop for.

However I might agree that QVC could be a test market for some lines.

Yeah, I'm really disappointed about it because I love Tarte products. They were sold to Kose a Japanese company that tests on animals. Tarte says their branch of Kose won't be tested on animals but the profits will be funneled to their parent company who does.

For what it's worth, I like the Tarte liners too, but find the Urban Decay 24/7 to be comparable, and they have zillions of colors (well maybe not zillions!).

The only complaint I have is that they change the colors (or maybe just the names) so it's a challenge to buy the same color twice.

Bikke I read on the Beauty Banter about the sale of Tarte after you told me I did a search..that's a real let down after all the talk of being so gentle to the environment talk and all. I'm liking Bobbi's eye shadow liners now so I'm okay with it. About the guinea pig thing...yeah, seems q does have a vendor, sometimes a good one in my opinion and others and it's gone...or a product aired once then gone as well. Theatrebiz I never saw that Urban Decay had thick shadow like type liners? Hmmm I'm always in ulta too lol.

They do have a 24/7 thick shadow liner, but those aren't the very popular ones, I don't think. In fact, they are heavily discounted on the UD site.

The very popular 24/7 UD liners are normal-sized. I love them.

Yes, it is common for cosmetic lines to discontinue old products in order to bring new ones into the line, but Tarte is ridiculous. To be fair to the new ownership, Maureen discontinued products at a faster than industry normal ratio before the brand was sold. I can think of at least FIVE Tarte products I purchased within the last two years which are no longer in their inventory. The only thing in the line which seems to be a permanent fixture is Light Camera Lashes mascara. While I respect trying to keep the line small in terms of number of products offered, for me the rapid turnover has proven to be a deterrent in trying new things from them.

Which eyeliners are being discontinued? I use the waterproof eyeliner in the pot and absolutely love it. Someone else mentioned BB's products but her eyeliner in the pot is horrible. It dries up within a couple of weeks and it doesn't stay on long like Tarte's. I used BB before discovering Tarte.
