@CoG wrote:TATCHA has many immitators and I've tried several of those endorsed by posters here. Not one has proven TATCHA 's equal. The camellia cleanser emulsifies better, rinses cleaner than Julep, Josie, Dr whatshername and the others Amazon offers. It is surely a better purchase than the ridiculously expensive Micellar waters. When I tried to recreate the camellia cleanser following the ingredient list I spent a fortune and still couldn't get it right. Red Sea algae, silk are suspended in TATCHA and I couldn't reproduce the suspension without some scary chemical emulsifier.
The enzyme polish is finer, less irritating yet effective. Fleur de Lis Naturals, Josie's, Philosophy products are gritty, abrasive. You'll find many who still swear by apricot pit scrubs and Dermapeel but I find them too rough even for the body.
The last couple of times the cleanser and Enzyme polish were offered they half the original price which made them reasonable purchases for me. The indigo cream and the silk moisturizer get good reviews but they're still inordinately costly IMO . But then the original 4 piece collection was $400.00. The packaging is exquisite but.......
In the end everyone will have their own unique views but I recommend trying th TATCHA cleansing duo.
What a great review! Thank you @CoG!

@JeanLouiseFinch I have like two dexluxe sample bottles of that vasanti product I got in my birchbox awhile back and have never used it! It gets really good reviews. I need to go look for them and try them out. Thanks for the reminder, lol!
To the OP:
Regarding Tatcha, I tried the cleansing oil and it made my face feel dry/tight, which surprised me for a cleansing OIL but come to find out, it contains the drying/irritating kind of alcohol! No wonder! Plus I've found that products containg algae can often cause my skin to break out even though I am not prone to breaking out so I usually try to avoid it as much as possible.
Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Polyglyceryl-10 Dioleate, Polyglyceryl-2 Sesquicaprylate, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Algae Extract, Water, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Glycerin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance (Natural), Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.
I also tried the sensitive and regular powder stuff and liked it okay. Not enough to pay that price but it was fine. Plus The powder also contains drying alcohol. I have skin that is normal to dry so I certainly don't need to use anything that can be drying/irritating!
Oryza Sativa (Rice) Powder, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Potassium Myristate, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Licorice Extract), Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran, Algae Extract, Papain (Papaya Extract), Glycerin, Dextrin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Iron Oxides (Cl 77491), Ultramarines, Mica, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.
I haven't tried anything else since I wasn't wowed by the two things I tried, especially for the price. I am surprised she uses the drying type of alcohol in her products if she truly had the skin issues she said she did. Denatured/SD alcohol is a known irritant and really quite unnecessary in skincare!

@CoG wrote:@ASLTW took your advice and watched AM and PM routine videos by Dr Dray. With all due respect, this woman has a vested interest in Neutrogena. Underwhelmed is the kindest thing I can say. Dermatologists unanimously recommend hyaluronic acid, vit C, retinol and I trust their consensus. The ladies who contribute to this forum have provided invaluable advice on a whole host of issues and products and I have learned to listen intently. Exfoliation, hydration, antioxidants are essentials IMO. You can't do these things with Neutrogena acne wash and Vaseline on your lips like Dr Dray.
Tatch, based on centuries' old tradition, is a very good line.
Hundred percent agree @CoG! Additionally to using a great line of products diligently, but loving care for the skin on our faces, in itself produces results! We need to GIVE some attention and care to GET better skin. Slapping vaseline on, don't think would fill one's hopes for a great skin too far.

@beach-mom wrote:@SilleeMee - Your mom was definitely ahead of her time with the "no sun," etc. My mom taught me not to scrub my face and be gentle and always use a washcloth. I always followed that, until I had my head turned by the Clarisonic. My dermatologist told me not to use it, so I never did. DD loves hers and uses it all of the time. At least she uses the brushes for sensitive skin! My mom never said anything about baths, but I've always loved hot showers and baths. I was a swimmer when I was young, so I didn't always protect my skin then, but I started wearing facial sunscreen in my 20's and I never go without it - even on a cold rainy day! My mom also had a simple routine. She used only Oil of Olay, and most people thought she was a lot younger than she was!
I taught English too - K through grade 9, even though I was secondary education! The school put an interpreter in the room with me for the younger students. We became really good friends - we were born on the exact same day! I did get into grammar some with the older ones, and their conversational English was pretty good. I also volunteered to give talks to the parents about life in the USA. That was fun!
It sounds like you have made some good choices with skincare. I bet you have nice skin.![]()
Can't believe you taught English, too! Wow what a coincidence, huh? Life in Japan is different and I learned that from my mom. I plan on going back some day, but not sure exactly when. I want to meet a Geisha!![]()
