FELINE GROOVY: I guess.....I'm just speaking to what I know about myself and my family. I'm an RN for 35 years so, I've seen every combination ~upstairs and downstairs. I have the opposite as you, I'm blonde and grey!

When I was a preteen and teen in the 70's it was all part of the hippie thing, and the macho thing as well. The hairier the better back then. Now...with my own grown children, it's the exact opposite. The guys may have scruff or a beard. But, on the body...they want it all gone.

Crazy topic!!!!  🙀

Bless you, GemSpirit.  8)

What a wonderfully-invisible combo!

We must be close in age; I'm 52.

And would most likely have been a hippie had I been older during that era.

Gotta comment on the HEALTH aspects of this.

For several years I had NO body hair, which I atrributed to living a VERY sedentary lifestyle.

Since becoming more active, I have once again grown both leg hair, and pit hair.

FINALLY, my HEAD hair has actually gotten fuller too, after years of treatment for thyroid disease.

Bodies sure can be interesting!!

That by your personal and American standards, OP.

It's no biggie in many places in Europe and other areas.

I wouldn't deliberately sport it myself though, especially since too much armpit hair (on most people) causes more persipration and natural bacteria to smell.

Interestingly, some cultures deal with body hair and body odor in a more positive way.

GAG!  Another reason I'm "Proud To Be an "American"!  Or more correctly a citizen of the USA!

Honestly if the pits are natural, dyed are shaved, they are the pits and not very beautiful. I wear tops with sleeves.

Aaaww, I still think they're pretty. Sure they have hair under their arms, but they're still beautiful. Hair doesn't make anyone look unattractive. It's just hair. Smiley Happy

Its okay, its very much accepted in Europe and other countries.  USA seems to dislike all hair on the body other than on the head.

Intetrestingly, Asians have very little body hair.  I think its genetic.  Native Americans either.  My brother would try hard to grow a mustache or lately, a beard, and it just doesn't fill in well so he has given up!  I'll always remember the days as a teen he tried a mustache and he kept borrowing my mascara to fill it in and make it darker!  I still giggle over that one!

I recall reading that women in the U.S. didn't start shaving until the 1920s or so, after the advent of silent movies.  It said that by removing body hair, it made the women more "child like" much to the delight of men who enjoyed the company of little girls.  I'm trying to phrase this as politely as possible.  Think about it - most young girls don't have body hair.

Body hair removal is something we've become conditioned to as normal - at least in our culture.  Now health professionals are finding that Brazilian waxing and such can lead to infections because of a lack of protective hair.

Who knows what our society will be doing 100 years from now - LOL.

Honestly, I don't mind a little hair, but there's no excuse for BODY ODOR ..... yuck!!!
