Hello Self-Tan Beauties!! I recently ordered HSN's Tan Towel TS but haven't tried them yet. For those of you who have used tan towels before, what kind of color do you get with them from ONE use?? To put it into perspective, I'm used to the color I get from BE's Faux Tan & St. Tropez. And from one time using those brands, I get an okay/good color. Should I expect the same thing from Tan Towels with only using once? I'm so afraid to use these towels with no color guide but by the same time excited to try it because of the no hassle of showering the color guide off and getting on clothes etc.

Do tan towels dry out your skin? And can you apply more than once using the same towel?? Or once you've opened the towel it will dry up by the time you go to reuse?? How long should I wait between applications?

And how long before I see color develop? Thanks much for helping me! Smiley Happy

Wishing you all a safe and Happy 4th of July weekend!!

Tan towels are all I ever use. You won't get a deep tan, but you will get color.
If you want darker, apply another coat a few hours later.

I save the whole body size for two uses. Wrap it in a plastic bag and seal.

You get color in a few hours. I love those things, and no, no drying out of skin.

They're clean, don't stain and don't smell.

That's how we roll in the shire..

They give a decent amount of color with one application but my skin is on the pale side. And I am sorry to disagree with Cas as they were both drying to my skin and have the typical ST smell after using. I'm not even scent sensitive yet I could smell that distinctive ST scent for a few days on me.

I do have dry skin so maybe that is why they were drying on my skin but I would just apply a body butter after a few hours so it was not a real issue. My biggest issue (and true of every ST I have ever used until I tried Vita Liberata this year) was the orange cast it left on my legs. I have that pale Irish skin and all ST leave that annoying orange tinge on my lower legs except for this newer brand, Vita Liberata, which also leaves no ST smell.

Loved the ease of TT but they weren't the best ST for me personally. Hope you have as much good luck as Cas has had with them.

I purchased the Tan Towel TS as well. I am quite fair and found I received a light color. To really get a nice tan you would need to do two applications of the color, which makes this a pretty expensive self tanner. No matter how I tried moisturizing my feet and lightly applying the TT, my feet and ankles always came out orange. I ended up returning the kit. I hope it works better for you!

Those were the worst areas on me too from using TT - lower leg, ankles and feet would always look orange. Not an attractive look at all.

I do hope you have much better success and it's very possible you will as many love this ST.

Thanks ladies for your feedback!

Had an idea. Do you think applying Tan Towels one night (for a base color) and then the next night apply either BE OR St. Tropez would be good for the skin?? In another words, other than the color being an issue if it comes out bad, do you think it's even SAFE to do something like that?? Anyone ever do that? Thanks again! Smiley Happy

I have been using TTs for years. This is all I use now. I get 2-3 uses from one towel, just place in plastic zip baggie after first use.

My suggestion for you is to do an even first coat, then wait a few hours to see what it looks like. At first it won't seem likes its doing anything. But later in the day, or even the next morning, you will see that you got some color. I've been known to do a coat in the morning, then another coat later in the late afternoon/evening a few hours before I go out (if using for a special occasion).

Typically, if I am already pale and just starting the routine again - not doing for a special occasion, just to add color - I will do a coat daily for 2-3 days. I haven't had any problems with orange color anywhere, my skin just looks naturally tan. I guess my skin just takes to it well. I am medium type, and tend to tan outside quickly, and becomes dark.

I get a light biscuit shade, very believable since I am Scots descent and usually embrace my pale self. That is w/1 TT-I use only 1 per week.

I have used all three of them and liked all of them (except for the smell after using, may have to give the Vita Liberata a try ). I use only the tan towels now because they are just fast and easier to use IMO. I did use the BE with them a while back and I can't say they are good for the skin but I had no issues layering them. I really liked the color I got when I used the BE or St. Tropez but they take longer to apply. When I use the towels I do my arms and upper body first and then legs and very last the ankles and feet.

I am light/medium skin tone and need two applications the first time with the towels. Good luck, I hope they work out for you!
