Re: Suzanne Somers - seriously?

Just my two cents: I don't really care what she looks like and how many times she gets on in a day, so I have made no comments about that. What I posted about are her "scare tactics" and her blithely voicing the most ridiculous misinformation.

There's nothing "ugly" in my saying that.

Btw i never saw her say anything against immunization . But the hormone thing is real. Some of you may want to at least read up on the topic when your dr. Says, oh, the hot flashes & migraines will pass, as I was told. But, Sadly, this thread has deteriorated into a hatefest.

No one said anything about SS commenting on immunizations. It was Jenny McCarthy.

Re: Suzanne Somers - seriously?

I always laugh when I hear "someone looks good or nice for their age." Honestly, I think that we are getting so use to seeing these "freaky" looking women who have used fillers, botox, surgery over a long stretch of time, that our bar is very low now. SS looks freaky as does , oh, so many actresses of a certain age. ANd I am sick of many of them trying to tell us that they just have always eaten well, exercised, blah, blah ,blah. The only two that have really been honest are Raquel Welch and Jane Fonda who have both admitted that they only look as good as they look because they both can "afford good work." Is Goldie still saying that she's never had anything thing done? Or Madonna who used to always say she does nothing to keep in the shape she was except yoga? If you are getting surgery or using loads of fillers over the years, own it! And we need to stop taking medical advice from movie stars. I don't care who you are, if you start using fillers and botox early enough, by the time you are in your mid 50s to 60s, you have the "filler" look. I live in Southern California and, believe me, I'm living in the center of botox central and see it all the time.

Re: Suzanne Somers - seriously?

What I don't understand is why women who are gorgeous to begin with go crazy with the plastic surgery--I think it gets to be an addiction. Look at Priscilla Presley. She is one who looks so freaky to me now.

I put her in the same category as Carol Alt who thinks literally everything we eat and breathe kills us; when Carol mentioned on her first tv show that she takes 70 supplements a day, I turned the channel. Suzanne is just desperate to sell her stuff; she'll say anything...

ITA. I think something is wrong with both of them. Maybe it has to do with the intense pressure of the public light/Hollywood to stay thin and fit and relevant, it eventually affects their brain negatively. I was looking forward to seeing Carol's show the first time it aired but after the first show, I only caught a clip here and there, because I think she's so out of touch with "average" Americans. Maybe only supermodels watch the show?

I clicked over to watch Carol's show one day and she was talking about using a coffee enema every morning and how great it made her feel and how it detoxes her digestive system! She said she gets up every morning and uses a coffee enema before she starts her day and she can't do without it! Ugggh. Uhhmmmm ok Carol. Good luck with that.

Of course she looks fantastic, she is very fit and attractive but if the secret to that is a coffee enema every morning, I'll pass on looking that fantastic.

As far as I know and have read, coffee enemas are not recommended by any doctor or medical professional.

SS manages to successfully sell her line, and she looks pretty darn good for her age. I guess if you want to take shots at her, fine. I'm wondering what the difference is in her sales pitch compared to everyone else that sells. All these sales people are pretty ridiculous with their over the top nonsense, but I manage to see thru it enough to make purchases.

the difference is that she is harming people with her wacky pseudo science. Her bio identical hormones? Are simply steroids. She is no more an expert then Jenny McCarthy.and for the record the majority of the doctors that she quotes have already distanced themselves from her. you probably shouldn't take geography lessons from her either. Yesterday she claimed Morocco was in the Middle East!

Boy, do I agree with both Suzanne Somers and Jenny McCarthy doing major damage with their wacky psuedo science and I cannot get over how many people actually have listened to them. As far as Ms. McCarthy goes, the # of children who are going without immunizations in this area is astounding and alot of it lands right on her back. So now, we have whooping cough and the measles making a comeback. And , just be looking how weird SS looks , why would you listen to her on anything. I wanted to say something about how often SS and her husband have something but the people who "moderate" this forum with not allow me to use a word that begins with s and ends with x. Really?

Jenny McCarthy has never stated "not" to immunize children...she has stated to spread out the number of shots given at one time. Also, have your child's protein levels checked before giving them their immunizations especially with boys. Please read up and be informed regarding immunizations.......there's a lot out there to learn. Our government is not behind us when it come to "our" health!!!!

How long has she been dyeing her hair? Those are chemicals.

How much work has she had done? She looks strange...

Maybe she uses an all natural dye now?

That is what they use now at the salon I go to. Of course for at least 25 I'm been using regular color.

LD I know this is a bit OT but do you have any idea how long a natural dye lasts?

I don't think they have this at my salon. This sounds interesting to me and something I'd like to know more about.

It's so frustrating, when I have to go in every 6 weeks now for my color. It's so time consuming and it only looks really good for about 2-3 weeks.

I've watched a few minutes of Carol Alt's show. You are right love, she thinks everything is going to kill you.

I've sat and listened to her and couldn't believe some of the things she said. It was amazing when she interviewed people who REALLY knew what they were talking about and she'd ask the dumbest questions. They'd look at her and you could imagine them thinking, "She's really pretty, but she's a nut".

Bwahahahahaha! I have seen the guests look at her that way!

I googled several recent pictures and they're actually rather horrifying. I read that she was having fat injections, and that's exactly how she looks. She could have been a very beautiful older woman- too bad she chose to be a contrived parody of her younger self.

I don't think she has ever been able to accept the natural process of aging.

you know we all know someone who is like that. There is a difference between, caring for oneself and keeping a youthful appearance and keeping healthy, vs. being so paranoid and mentally unable to deal with aging that one keeps repeating plastic surgery and fillers etc. to the point where they are no longer recognizable. It's sad.

Re: Suzanne Somers - seriously?

I dont think Suzanne has gone under the knife but for her to do the fillers and whatever else she has injected into herself seems really hypocritical to me. She speaks of wanting to go all natural in every aspect of her life, but what the heck is the stuff she is injecting into her face. She would be lying if she said she doesnt, the photo posted here proves that and she came to SHQ looking like that, really lumpy, almost unrecognizable.

She did say on one of her hours at SHQ that she is working on a natural hair color/dye, she says she really want to get away for those chemicals when she colors her hair and to share with her customers.

But anyway, I think she is cute. And fun... {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I have enjoyed the products I have tried from a TTV and a clearance duo. Speaking of clearance, there is quite a few of her items/kits there in the beauty clearance section if anyone is interested. She has a bronzer duo there that looks nice.
