Sunscreen Questions for @Silleemee

[ Edited ]

@SilleeMee I read one of the more recent sunscreen threads with interest.  If using a chemical sunscreen, I know it's okay to put it over a vitamin C serum.  But is it okay to use a peptide serum after the vitamin C serum and before the chemical sunscreen?  Or should I only use the peptide serum at night?

Question #2:  If using Gold Bond Neck and Chest, should that go on after chemical sunscreen?  I know to wait 30 minutes.  Or should I just use it at night?

Thank you, as always!!!! <3

I always apply vitamin C serum first in the AM and then apply sunscreen. Chemical ss need to be applied to clean skin, preferably on top of VC serum (let dry first) to boost the effectiveness of the ss. After that you can apply the rest of your skincare products after the ss has dried down. No need to wait 30 minutes for that. Just as long as the ss is dry. I use a fan to help speed things along.

Chemical sunscreens need to absorb into the skin w/o interference from moisturizers or other products. The absorption time is usually between 15 to 30 minutes (check the label for times). The reason for that wait time is b/c the ss needs to go into the skin where it binds to skin proteins beneath the surface. If the ss isn't allowed enough time to absorb then what is left on the surface of the skin can get destroyed by the sun's UV radiation and that disables the SPF in the ss.

Re: Sunscreen Questions for @Silleemee

@SilleeMee thank you!  I have always used physical sunscreens, so chemical sunscreens are a whole new world for me.  I have been doing some things wrong, so I am glad I asked!
