Suggestions for growing my colored hair out to its natural white....

I cut my hair very short about a month ago... I am scheduled for another trim on October 13th... it will have been about 8 weeks since my last cut. I have about an inch of white growout.. and am not going to color... going to tough it out until the 13th and hope that most of the color will be trimmed off. the color remaining on my hair is an ash brown... and it is faded so it is not very dark. I know you can incorporate some color into your hair to help the transition... but I really do not want to use color anymore on my hair/ body. The longest my hair is on top of head is about two inches... so I think the next trim will pretty much cut most of the old color off... Hope it will look ok to have a bit of color left if that happens...?

What did you brave grey/white haired ladies do to transition to white from color? I think cutting my hair short was the best move.
