Re: Suggestions for Unscented, Moisturizing Bar Soap...

I've always had dry skin. A top NYC Derm told me stop using

soap! It's terribly drying. She recommended any clean/organic

baby shampoo. I use it on face and body. Great advice!

I alternate between Dove and Olay bar soaps.

I would like to suggest Goat Milk Stuff.  A family run company.  I love their pure, unscented bars.  Very moisturizing.  No gunk leftover.  I tried Beekman, but it left soap scum on my tub and me.  As someone else said, it really dried out my skin and left me itchy.

@Tinkrbl44  I didn't think of the Nutrogena oil spray. I would worry about residual oil falling all over the bathroom, but maybe it's easier than it sounds.

If I recall correctly, you're not to spray it directly on your body for that reason.

Example - Spray some into your hand and then rub up and down your damp legs.  No oily residue on the shower floor.

Years ago I had a box of Sardoettes for use after you turned the shower off.  Basically it was a paper towel doused in a scented oil.  You ripped the foil packet open and used the towelette on damp skin and let dry for a min or two.  Towel damp any residue.  Don't think they make it anymore, but it had a fabulous scent!

Dove Senstive Skin is the best, for me, so far.

But I recall using Kirk's bar soap years ago.  Unscented.

Btw, have you tried using coconut oil?  I use it on a wet face morning and evening.

I don't know if it's clogging my pores,

though.

UPDATE:  Better oils that don't clog pores are Grapeseed oil, Sunflower oil, Rosehip oil, among others.

RE: Coconut oil:   It works well on arms, legs, and especially knees.  (I have very smooth knees, as someone recently told me this Summer.  I hadn't paid much attention before that compliment.)

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I attribute part of my dry skin problems to low thyroid.  I'm pretty good in the summer, but for winter cleansing I use Dove bar or Dove pump bottle in the "sensitive skin" versions.  Then I use my favorite Ultra Repair Cream.  Absorbs instantly, a true life saver.  I hate products you can still feel 4 hours later.

Beekman goat milk soap in Pure. No film in the stub and my skin doesn’t feel dry. Even my skeptical husband won’t be without it.

My best tip is for you to check out the website for " Goat Milk Stuff". They make terrific bar soaps, including a pure. It keeps my 72 year old skin in great shape.
