Re: Suggestions for Unscented, Moisturizing Bar Soap...

@PA Mom-mom

i have chronic eczema since I was a child

derm doctors always suggested Dove and Cetephil

i would be in creams and various oils and my skin would still dry up mintues later especially in the winter - my skin would crack and bleed

yes - i will also sing the praises of Beekman soap

i havent used bar soap since liquid came out decades ago

I resisted - who the heck uses bar soap - so difficult to handle etc

i gave it a try maybe 7 years ago? when they were at the other channel

my skin improved - vastly improved- i get breakouts on my palms if i touch stuff

but the flare ups behind knees - creases when u bend the arm - neck and face have disappeared - it wasn't my diet - i did not move to another climate

i have gotten steroid pills and steroid shot (in the posterior) on 2 occasions when it was really really bad

maybe other goat milk soap would be good also - i dont know

i have stuck with them bc i remember how painful it was

not all their products are great - hand cream for me was not rich enough

their whipped body cream is very good

i have not tried the majority of their products

good luck

@PA Mom-mom , my dermatologist from Mayo Clinic always suggest Vanicream soap.  Try looking into it.

The body cream is also one of richest moisturizers I've ever used, and not greasy.

I agree that the Beekman unscented goat soap is really the best.  It is very moisturizing and goes on nice and washes off very easily.

I like to buy these bars when I can get the 4 oz size.  Easier to use in the shower.  Sometimes they offer it in a pail with the four smaller size bars at HSN.  That's when I try to stock up.

My husband swears by Dove Unscented Sensitive Skin bar soap. Has used it forever. I use the Sensitive Body Wash. He fights eczema and I am in remission with psoriasis.

I like Toms of Maine creamy coconut bar soap. It doesn't have a scent and I have been using if for years and no drain problems.

Toms also has an unscented bar with aloe.

Re: Suggestions for Unscented, Moisturizing Bar Soap...

@PA Mom-mom   I used to get eczema on my shoulders, but that stopped when I followed my doc's directive to use a lower temp of water when showering. I used to use Tone bar soap too, but not for years .

I never want the mess of a bar soap again.

At times, I've had eczema on the back of my right hand. I now use Dove Sensitive Skin hypoallergenic liquid wash at my sinks for hand washing instead of a popular scented different brand I was using...and I remind myself not to use such hot water for it.

When I followed this, my eczema cleared up.

I now keep Dove Sensitive Skin hypoallergenic liquid wash in the shower. The base of the bottle fits fine on my shelves. I switch off in the shower & also use Johnson's baby wash - and have for almost 3 decades bc my child had allergies to some soaps.

The best moisturizers I've used have oat in them.

But, everybody knows what works best for them.

Re: Suggestions for Unscented, Moisturizing Bar Soap...

Dear PA MOM MOM,

I know you are requesting an unscented moisturizing soap but I truly have to share with you what I have been using since 2015.  I had terrible dry skin but wanted a soap and liquid body cleanser that was non toxic, chemical free.  I came across the SheaMoisture brand and they have the best 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Shea Butter Soap.  The bars are awsome, 8 oz and they do not melt away and last!!  I also use their Liquid body wash and that is awsome too!!  I like to take a bath and then shower off and it has worked for me.  I can smell the coconut but it is NOT strong at all but wow, what a great product.  They have their own website but I have also ordered thru Amazon and bought it here locally at Walmart and other stores.  I have a stash here and will never go without.  Also they have other soaps to offer and what a great company!!  They are geered to those of color but I say---they are geered to ALL!!  I even wrote the company owner a note a few years ago and told them how much I adored their products.  They also have body lotions, hair products, you name it and they have it.  Wish you well Pa Mom Mom.   Sincerely, a former Jersey Girl.  Addie

Oh PS:  My husband who is so sensitive to fragrances uses this also.  No issue at all and he used the Dove unscented.  He said "no going back"!!  HTH.

Wow! You are all so kind and thoughtful with your suggestions. I have a lot to consider and to try. My skin feels more hydrated already! I'll report back with my findings. Thanks so much!
