Re: Suggestion for skin care products

A person looking for results better than over the counter skincare would benefit from the use of tretioin. You might want to start off with an overcounter retinaldehyde formula and work your way up to tretinoin. Naturium has one.

@WI CUSTOMER   I've pared down my routine over the years. I also have dry skin (more combo in summer) and find Skinceuticals, DRMTLGY and/or Kiehl's to be most effective for me.

I use Kiehl's oil cleanser at night to remove my tinted DRMTLGY SPF. Skinceuticals makes the top rated Vit. C &E serum, but quite expensive, so I gave it up and use either The Ordinary C or one from OBAGI. Moisturizer (AM & PM) is Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream. I've been using Retin A for 35-40 yrs. and YES, it's worth the effort to see results.

The Vit. C serums are also good for brightening the complexion and it supports your sunscreen and makes it more effective.

@Shanus , DRMTLGY has a C E + F that is supposed to be excellent and less than half the price of Skinceuticals.

Re: Suggestion for skin care products

@WI CUSTOMER

Any suggestions on what works for someone in their 60's with dry skin

I'm 64 with uber dry skin.  Dry skin needs hydration.  It needs moisturizers too but hydration and moisturizers aren't the same.  I will insert pictures of the various hydrating products I use.  My complexion is dry but it doesn't know it (g).  As for moisturizers, the BEST I've ever used is from Tatcha.  I ran out and used Kiehls for a while.  It didn't do as well as Tatcha but was of course better than nothing. It certainly worked in a pinch.  Everyone is different.  Also...toners are not what they used to be (aka harsh and drying.  And they are more often referred to as essences)

Hydrators/essences I use 2x a day:

Kiehl's Since 1851 - Milk-Peel Gentle Exfoliating Toner 6.8 oz/ 200 mL Clean at Sephora

Moisturizers I use day and night:

Tatcha - The Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Moisturizer 1.7 oz / 50 mL Clean at Sephora Clean at Sephora

Tatcha - The Water Cream Oil-Free Pore Minimizing Moisturizer 1.7 oz / 50 mL Clean at Sephora Clean at Sephora

I also use various serums.  I don't know what you're looking for in the way of a serum, but, if you have uneven skin texture and maybe some breakouts, Niacinamide (from The Ordinary) is wonderful.  Vit C is good for a bright complexion and free radicals.  Lactic Acid, CoQ 10, Matrixyl, Retinol and Glycolic Acid.  Squalane Oil is wonderfully hydrating and soothing.  I use and enjoy all these products daily and am happy with my complexion.

And two products I keep on hand for times I'm too tired to do my evening skin care routine or I've done something to trash my face, are these two products.  They should be in everyone's medicine cabinet.

Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Face Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin, Face Cream, 1.7 oz

Aveeno Calm + Restore Triple Oat Sensitive Skin Face Serum, 1 fl. oz

They have other products in the line that might work even better for you but those are the two I keep on hand for emergencies.  Complexion is back to normal the next day Smiley Happy
