I'm so oeverwhelmed by all the styling tool options out there now that I've put off buying one.. and it seems like there are just more now to choose from! LOL.

I've seen some positive notes about GHD, Sedu if I recall correctly...

But does anyone know about titanium plates (Corioliss - special on HSN) vs the ceramic and tourmaline I'm used to reading about? Also - how about infrared (Amika on HSN, Sephora)? Any of these better than others for not damaging hair too badly? or at least lesser of evils?

I have very thick wavy hair - would like to smooth it out - not super straight. Would also like to be able to make smooth curls/waves.
